Who is Vanaja alias Sanjana? The Serial Honeytrap Queen of Bengaluru

Behind the recent harassment case involving a Ramamurthy Nagar Police Inspector lies the dark history of Vanaja (alias Sanjana), a woman notorious for operating a sophisticated honeytrap and extortion racket in Karnataka. Known for targeting wealthy individuals and even law enforcement officers, Sanjana’s criminal portfolio reveals a pattern of calculated seduction followed by relentless blackmail.

The Modus Operandi: "The Dinner Trap"

Sanjana’s strategy followed a consistent script. She would identify wealthy targets—primarily contractors and businessmen—and initiate contact under the guise of friendship. Once trust was established, she would invite them to her residence for a meal.

Unbeknownst to the victims, she would capture compromising photos and videos during these encounters. These recordings then became the primary tools for extortion, with Sanjana demanding lakhs of rupees and jewelry under the threat of public exposure.

The Case of Contractor Sathish Reddy

One of her most prominent victims, a civil contractor named Sathish Reddy, fell prey to her tactics twice.

  • Initial Extortion: In 2022, Sanjana allegedly lured Reddy to her home and extorted ₹3 lakh in cash, along with a gold chain, a bracelet, and a ring. This led to a case being filed at the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station.
  • Property Grab Attempt: Not satisfied with cash, Sanjana later allegedly tried to seize Reddy's two-story building. This prompted a second legal complaint, this time at the K.R. Puram Police Station.

Targeting the Uniform: From Constable to Inspector

Sanjana’s audacity extended to targeting the police department itself.

  • The 2018 False Case: She previously targeted a Davanagere-based Head Constable named Jagadish. She filed a complaint at the Whitefield Police Station, alleging he had cheated her after promising marriage. However, police investigations revealed the charges were fabricated, resulting in a "B-Report" (closure due to lack of evidence).
  • The Current Incident: Most recently, she began harassing Inspector Sathish of Ramamurthy Nagar, demanding his "love" and threatening him with false allegations. Investigations suggest she frequently introduced herself as the "wife of a police officer" to intimidate others.

A Trail of Deception

With multiple FIRs now linked to her name, authorities believe Sanjana has trapped many more individuals who remain silent due to social stigma. The police are currently investigating her network to see if she had accomplices helping her record videos or manage the extorted wealth.
