The MSRTC has increased bus services from Pune to handle the expected rush of passengers during Diwali festive season. Thousands of people are preparing to go home and transport corporation has arranged additional bus services while bookings for several special services have already been made.
MSRTC has deployed around 800 additional buses a day to meet the demand. As many as 125 Diwali special services have already been fully booked which indicates strong demand for public transport during holidays period.
These additional arrangements are meant to give passengers more options and less congestion at major bus stations when people leave Pune for their hometowns.
MSRTC Increases Bus Services Ahead of Diwali
Pune has a large population of people who have moved here for employment, education and business. Many of them go to their native places during Diwali to celebrate the festival with their families.
This seasonal movement increases demand for buses and trains. Regular services are often full up before people get to their destination so they have to look for alternative travel arrangements.
MSRTC has planned special services from Pune and other neighbouring areas to cater to the extra demand. These arrangements are expected to help passengers travelling towards different parts of Maharashtra.
The corporation’s additional buses are to be used as extra capacity to cover regular services and increase the availability of public transport over the festive period.
125 Diwali Special Services Already Fully Booked
The high demand for festive travel shows up in the booking figures too. The report says 125 special Diwali bus services have already been fully booked.
Early completion of bookings suggests that many passengers are planning their journeys in advance so as to avoid last minute difficulties.
Generally people travelling during the festive season should check seat availability early on routes Pune-popular destinations in Maharashtra.
The rising demand also shows that additional public transport arrangements are needed during major festivals when large numbers of workers, students and families travel at the same time.
Additional Buses to Connect Pune With Major Regions
MSRTC’s Diwali arrangements are for passengers travelling from Pune towards Vidarbha, Marathwada, Khandesh and western Maharashtra.
Earlier reports on preparations of the corporation said that Pune division had prepared 1,200 additional buses for special operations between November 4 and 7.
Of these more than 900 buses were earmarked for Vidarbha, Khandesh and Marathwada; 300 for western Maharashtra. The services would be from major places like Pimpri-Chinchwad, Swargate and Shivajinagar.
These arrangements are supposed to spread passenger traffic among the various boarding points and make travel easier during the festive rush.
MSRTC Focuses on Passenger Convenience
Apart from increasing number of buses, the transport corporation is also making arrangements to manage passenger movement at important bus stations.
Other services can reduce waiting times and offer alternatives if regular buses are full. Coordination at boarding points needs to be improved so that when departure hours are busy there isn’t overcrowding (e.g. buses standing in a queue).
Passengers should check ticket details, boarding points and departure times before starting their journeys. Those who have not booked tickets yet should check availability of remaining services through official MSRTC booking channels.
Diwali Travel Demand Puts Public Transport in Focus
The surge in bookings ahead of Diwali shows how important affordable public transport is for people travelling between Pune and other parts of Maharashtra.
Railway seats often sell out well before the festival and private bus fares may rise during high demand so additional state transport services can be an important alternative.
MSRTC’s expanded operations will help to accommodate the seasonal movement of passengers and relieve pressure on existing services.
Diwali is just around the corner, so travellers should plan their journeys early and listen to official announcements about special bus schedules, ticket availability and boarding arrangements.
