A moment of Afghanistan, India vs Afghanistan T20I series may have ended victorious for India on the field but one Afghanistan fan has made a mark in the cricketing games on the other side of the fence. In the third and final match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, at the end of the match in Delhi, there was a video on social media showing an Afghanistan supporter staying back in the stands and collecting litter left behind by the fans. The gesture caught attention among cricket fans online.
The fan can be seen walking through the seating areas after most of the crowd had left the stadium. He picked up discarded bottles, wrappers and other pieces of waste, putting the litter into a blue bag. It was an easy act after an international match that had attracted a large crowd to the Delhi venue.
The video was shared on social media by the account @Cric_Mukku and was picked up by several media outlets. The fan did not seem to be looking for attention but his decision to clean the area after the match won praise online. It also highlighted how spectator actions can help keep sporting venues cleaner.
India completed a 3-0 series sweep
The heartwarming moment came after India successfully completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep against Afghanistan. The third match was played on September 17 at Arun Jaitley Stadium and India won by a 127-run victory.
India were asked to bat first and posted 221/7 in their 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma was the best player for India to score 108 runs from 34 deliveries. His century came in just 30 balls and is the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian batsman and one of the fastest in the format. He got nine fours and 11 sixes.
Sanju Samson also played a crucial role in India's big total, scoring 50 from 35 balls. The opening pair of Abhishek and Samson provided India with an explosive start before Afghanistan fought back with wickets in the last stages of the innings. India eventually finished at 221/7.
Afghanistan struggled in the chase.
Chasing 222 for victory, Afghanistan was unable to keep up with India's bowling attack and failed to find the pace against India's attack to win. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 94 in 14.1 overs, handing India a 127-run victory and completing the clean sweep.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravi Bishnoi were the leading wicket-takers in India with three wickets each. Axar Patel took two wickets and Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Thakur took one wicket each. Afghanistan’s innings was never serious in terms of a challenge until India began taking regular wickets.
The result concluded the three-match series with India winning all three matches. The Afghanistan Cricket Board had announced earlier that the series would be three T20Is at the Arun Jaitley Stadium with games on September 13, 15 and 17.
Fan's Gesture Steals The Spotlight
But although Afghanistan's team lost the match, the Afghanistan fan's post-match gesture became one of the most discussed moments in the final game. He did not leave immediately after the match, but stayed behind and collected waste from the stands.

The gesture was especially memorable as stadiums hosting major cricket matches can be left with large amounts of discarded packaging and other waste after fans have left. Cleaning the stadium is usually the responsibility of stadium staff and the fan's kind gesture was welcomed by the viewers who saw the video.
It also brought a different element to the India–Afghanistan cricket battle. Players competed hard on the field but the supporter also demonstrated a sense of responsibility to the shared sporting venue.
As India-Afghanistan concluded with India’s 3-0 victory, the Afghanistan fan cleaning the stands showed that great cricket moments in history are not always runs and wickets and records. Sometimes a small gesture from a spectator is part of the story around a match too.
