Mixed Martial Arts is mourning the loss of Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight Allan Nascimento, the Brazilian fighter, who was 34. Fan favorite and nicknamed Puro Osso, had a heart attack in his home and fell to his death when emergency medical personnel rushed to his side but after a life-threatening heart attack he was pronounced dead.
Nascimento leaves behind a grieving wife and two children while also having an enormous network of teammates, coaches and fans who admired his dedication to the sport. Nascimento, who was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, developed his reputation in the sport through toughness, technical expertise and a relentless fighting spirit. When he started to learn martial arts at a young age, he ended up in the renowned Chute Boxe Diego Lima Academy where he developed his long-standing friendships with the biggest names in the sport and was an intense competitor in his own right as well as a trusted cornerman and training partner for champions like Charles Oliveira.
Nascimento established himself as a strong submission specialist over a professional career, and with his 22 wins and 7 losses he has a total of 16 of them by submission, displaying his elite Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt on the mat. The professional fighter was first signed to the UFC in 2021 and he was a world champion in the MMA industry in a position to win. He was 4-2 in the Octagon and battled his way through the world's best flyweight division. His last fight was in June against Mitch Raposo.
Tributes poured in from all over combat sports world as soon as news of his death came out. The UFC issued an official statement to honor him as a great competitor, a professional who was a true fighter, and the one the MMA family will always remember best. His home gym, Chute Boxe, remembered him as a person who was an amazing fighter with the humility, discipline and spirit to do the best he could and who was so proud of and loved by his family members. Charles Oliveira, the former UFC lightweight champion, posted an emotional message on social media to say that he was in great pain over the loss of someone he once considered a friend. Allan Nascimento's abrupt departure is a tragedy for his family, his friends, and the entire global MMA community - where his legacy and his fighting spirit will live on forever.
