Haryana’s position at the top is in line with India’s reputation as one of the strongest sports regions. The state has produced many great wrestlers, boxers, athletes, shooters and other competitive athletes.

At the Commonwealth Games 2026, Haryana athletes contributed to India's medal count significantly, especially in boxing.

India’s boxers had a great campaign and got the country a lot of gold medals. Boxing was one of India’s most successful sports in the Games.

Manipur’s second place in the state-wise tally is also significant. It is a state that has produced many world-class athletes and has been an important factor in India’s sports accomplishments despite its small population.

The medals from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and other states prove that India’s sporting success is increasingly spread across different regions.

Athletes from southern, northern, northeastern and central India contributed to the national medal count.

The state-wise distribution also shows the importance of local sports infrastructure, coaching programmes, government support and grassroots talent development.

States which invest consistently in sports academies, training centres and athlete support systems often develop stronger pipelines for national and international competition.

India’s 39-medal performance included achievements in boxing, athletics, para-athletics, weightlifting, judo and other disciplines.

The contribution of athletes from 17 states and regions demonstrates the depth of sporting talent across the country.

Haryana’s 11 medals placed it ahead of the other states, while Manipur’s four medals also highlighted the ongoing contribution of northeastern athletes in India’s international sporting success.

The results are expected to strengthen states’ capacities to invest in sports facilities and identify young athletes at an early stage.

The Commonwealth Games 2026 performance could also help in determining which areas and disciplines require more support in the future to prepare sports authorities for future international competitions.

India will host the next edition of the Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030, so the Glasgow campaign is an important point in the country’s planning for the future.

For now, the state-wise tally gives a clear picture of how athletes from different parts of India contributed to the country’s Commonwealth Games success.

Haryana had 11 medals, followed by Manipur with four and Tamil Nadu with three, while medal-winning athletes from several states ensured that India’s medal-winning performance was reflective of the country’s rich sporting diversity.
