India A’s young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi could be in trouble after he is likely to be disciplined for getting into an on-field argument with Sri Lankan A player Vishen Halambage after a tense finish to the unofficial one-day match between the two sides in Dambulla.
The high-voltage clash was marked with controversy when emotions boiled over at the end of a dramatic Super Over, and video footage of the two players arguing emerged. Now the match officials will have to take a stand and take action under the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct.
The match itself was a nail-biting affair, with fans on the edge of their seats. India A scored 265 runs on the field first in 49.2 overs to make a competitive total of 265 runs in 49.2 overs in the match. The visitors were the winners for most of the game, but Sri Lanka A were able to fight back and got back in and out of the game.
Sri Lanka A scored 265 runs from 50 overs in a remarkable finish, and the tie sent the match to a Super Over. The deadlock was a decisive one as both teams competed.
Sri Lanka A scored 16 runs during the Super Over, and India A needed 17 runs to win. But the Indian side was under pressure and managed only nine runs from their six deliveries to give Sri Lanka A a seven-run victory.
The controversy started soon after India's defeat. As the players started to leave the field, Sri Lanka A batter Vishen Halambage apparently made some comments to Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The comments seemed to anger the young Indian batter who snapped back and confronted the Sri Lankan player.
Oh noo.. Wait for the ugly fight by Vaibhav Sooriyavanshi.. That’s too much for a 15 year old. ( If its true ) #SLAVINDA pic.twitter.com/zUS3FviHSr

Television footage and videos circulating on social media show a visibly frustrated Suryavanshi moving toward Halambage during the verbal exchange. In the footage, the Indian batter is seen making contact and pushing the Sri Lankan player as teammates and officials tried to diffuse the situation.
In terms of ICC regulations, contact with an opponent physically is serious, but can be considered a Level 2 or even Level 3 breach of the Code of Conduct if the player does not respect an individual in the course of the ICC and a player has physically hit a player at this level of contact with her/him in the game with a physical contact is considered a Level 2 or even Level 3 breach of the Code of Conduct if it is found to be an offence against the same team can be serious depending on how serious this is.
Such violations can be punished with heavy sanctions of fines, demerit points and can be punished with the consequences of such breaches, including fines, demerit points and in some cases, the team suspension from future league matches up to and including suspension from future matches.
Match referee Pradeep Jayaprakash looks at all the evidence from the video footage and the report from the umpires. The investigation will seek to determine if either player violated the spirit of the match or violated ICC disciplinary standards.
If guilty, Suryavanshi could face a heavy fine, up to 100 per cent of his match fee. A suspension from one or more games may also be imposed if the referee determines the incident to be a serious offence.
At the same time, attention is also on Vishen Halambage's role in the confrontation. If the Sri Lankan player is found to have used abusive, provocative, or unsporting language that triggered the altercation, he too may be disciplined.
The cricket world is waiting for the verdict from match referee Pradeep Jayaprakash. The decision is expected to clarify whether disciplinary action will be taken against one or both players and could serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining sportsmanship even in the most emotionally charged moments of the game.
