Virat Kohli has proven once again why he is regarded as the "King" of the 50-over format. Playing for Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Kohli became the fastest batter in history to reach 16,000 runs in List A cricket, eclipsing a record previously held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
Breaking the "Master Blaster's" Record
Kohli reached the 16,000-run milestone during his breathtaking knock against Andhra Pradesh at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
- The Speed: Kohli achieved this feat in just 330 innings, a staggering 61 innings fewer than Sachin Tendulkar, who reached the mark in 391 innings.
- The Milestone Innings: He marked the occasion with a masterclass century (131 off 101 balls), which was his 58th century in List A cricket.
A Double World Record
Not content with just the runs tally, Kohli also reclaimed the throne for the highest batting average in List A history (for players with a minimum of 5,000 runs).
With a fluent 77-run knock against Gujarat on December 26, Kohli’s average climbed to 57.87, narrowly surpassing the previous world record of 57.86 held by Australian great Michael Bevan.
