Plans for a trip take a long time. Travelers usually have to compare flight prices, check different dates, find hotels and check again if prices have dropped.
Google is now trying to ease that process with AI-powered travel features.
New travel tools in AI Mode have been added to Google Search that allow users to track flight prices, check the prices of flights and hotels based on points or miles, and even book hotels using AI. Google announced the update on August 27, 2026.
The new features will make AI Mode more like a personal travel assistant. Instead of searching through pages and repeatedly checking prices, you can describe what you want and Google’s AI helps you.
With AI tracking flight prices, track flight prices using AI
We are also adding flight price tracking.
Google is now bringing its existing Google Flights price tracking feature into AI Mode. Users can tell AI Mode where they want to travel and their preferred dates and ask it to track the prices.
For example, a traveller could ask Google AI to find flights from Bengaluru to London for specific dates and then request price tracking.
When the tracking is set up, Google will send an email when prices change for the selected destination and dates.
Hence, travellers are not required to check the same flight every day.
Google says flight price tracking through AI Mode is now available in more than 180 countries and territories. The system can show current flight options using information from more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites.
The feature would allow people who are flexible about when they book and want to wait for a better fare to be able to do it.
How does flight price tracking work?
It is fairly simple. First, users describe their travel plans in AI Mode. They can state their destination, travel dates, and other preferences.
Google then searches for available flight options and shows the relevant search results.
If the prices are too high, users can ask Google to track those flights. Once tracking is enabled, Google will monitor the prices and send an email when there is a change.
But travellers should keep in mind that flight prices can change quickly. The price shown in an alert might not be available by the time the user actually books the ticket. Google itself notes that flight prices and availability can change frequently.
AI Can Also Find Flight Deals
Google already has AI to help people find cheaper flights with its Flight Deals service.
Instead of entering a destination and exact dates, users can describe the kind of trip they want in normal language.
For example, a week-long beach holiday, a cheap international trip, or a winter getaway.
The AI will interpret the request and search for the appropriate destinations and dates.
Google’s Flight Deals feature uses data from more than 300 partners to find matching flights. It also compares prices with historical fares to identify flights that could qualify as deals.
According to Google, a flight can get a savings badge if its price is at least 20% lower than what would be the typical price for a similar trip.
That is why the tool is even more useful in this world when travellers are looking for cheap places to travel to, not to visit a place and visit them.
You Can Check Points And Miles Too
One new feature would be useful for people who collect airline or hotel rewards.
Google AI Mode can now show the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles.
Users can tell the AI which rewards programme they want to use and ask it to find suitable options.
For example, a traveller could ask Google to find a flight using a specific airline's miles.
The system can then show matching options based on the latest information provided by its partners.
The same idea works for hotels. So it allows users to ask how many points they require for a hotel stay and compare options.
This can help make it easier for people to decide whether paying cash or using accumulated rewards offers better value.
Google AI Can Help Book Hotels. Google is also taking its AI travel tools a step further by allowing users to book hotels through AI Mode.
As opposed to searching for hotels, users can describe their trip and preferences.
They can tell their destination, travel dates, and the type of hotel they would like to stay in.
AI Mode can then show a visual list of hotel options along with guest reviews and important details that can help users compare them.
Once users choose a hotel, they can continue booking through Google's integrated partners.
Google says that users can check details such as the room, cancellation policy, and other booking information before making the reservation.
This brings the process to conversationality.
Instead of searching from one search page to another, users can continue asking questions and refining their choices.
AI is becoming a Travel Assistant.
These updates illustrate how Google is changing the way you think about AI in travel planning. Previously, travellers used search engines to find information.
Now, AI can help them compare options, monitor prices and bring them closer to completing a booking.
Google’s AI Mode already allows users to compare flights and hotels with real-time information and refine their searches through a conversation.
The latest updates take that experience further by adding price tracking and hotel booking.
This could mean less time spent searching manually for travel dates for travellers.
What about Hotel Price Tracking?
Google had already introduced hotel price tracking before those latest AI Mode updates.
So users searching for hotels in Google can track the price of a destination and travel dates. If prices drop very drastically, Google can send an email.
The system also considers filters users may use (e.g., hotel ratings or specific areas).
In the new AI features, more of these travel tools are integrated into a single conversation.
That could work well for people who wish to explain travel decisions in natural language and not filter through.
Will Google always find the cheapest option? Not necessarily.
AI is able to speed up travel searches, but users should be well aware of the final price in advance of booking.
Flight fares can change quickly, and availability can disappear. Google also says its AI-powered Flight Deals feature is experimental, so its destination and date suggestions may not necessarily match what a traveller has in mind.
Baggage rules, cancellation policies, layover times and other conditions should be noted along with the payment.
When the air ticketing is included in baggage and other costs, a cheaper flight is probably not the best deal.
The same is true for hotels. Low room prices may also mean that there are stricter cancellation rules or additional fees associated with them.
What This Will Do To Travellers.
Google’s new AI technology might help with trip planning (and save money) for people who have flexible dates or want to save on travel.
Instead of spending time on flight prices, the user could ask Google to track them.
Rather than manually comparing different reward programmes, they could ask AI to show prices in points or miles.
And instead of searching through multiple hotel websites, they can use AI Mode to discover and book a hotel.
The biggest advantage is convenience.
Users can describe in normal language what they want and then refine the search through follow-up questions.
Google is turning Search Into A Travel Tool
The latest update shows Google's overall strategy for AI Mode.
But it is not only answering questions and linking them up. It is also trying to help users do things. For travel, that means helping people choose destinations, compare prices, track fares, and even book them. And consumers, especially in the U.S., benefit from cost and time savings, the biggest ones. AI should be seen as a tool rather than the ultimate authority. Costs, availability and booking conditions can change, and the final decision-maker should always look at the final details before making a payment.
With flight tracking, points and miles searches and hotel booking now available through AI Mode, Google is making its search platform a much more active part of the travel-planning process.
For travellers looking for better deals, the message is simple: you can now ask Google AI to do much of the searching and price monitoring for you, instead of doing it all manually.
