No Visa, No Problem: Countries Indians Can Visit Without a Visa Before Travel in 2026

International travel is much easier when people do not need to apply for a traditional visa before departure. For Indian passport holders, many countries have visa-free entry or visa on arrival, or other simplified entry arrangements.

According to the information presented to Parliament in July 2026, 27 countries offered visa-free entry to Indian passport holders, and 47 provided visa-on-arrival facilities. Another 66 countries offered e-visa facilities.

Therefore, entry rules can change, so travellers should always check the destination country's latest immigration requirements before booking a trip.

Popular Visa-Free Destinations

Bhutan, Nepal, Malaysia, Mauritius, Thailand, Barbados, Fiji, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Rwanda, Senegal, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu are among the destinations listed in 2026 sources.

Other destinations with visa-free access include Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Micronesia, Kiribati, Cook Islands, Montserrat, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Angola.

The length of stay can be very different between destinations. Visa-free access does not necessarily mean unlimited entry.

Visa on Arrival Gives Travellers More Options

Indian travellers also have access to a wider array of countries where a visa can be obtained after arriving at the destination.

These include popular holiday destinations such as Maldives, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Jordan, Laos, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

Other countries in the visa-on-arrival category are Ethiopia, Mongolia, Mozambique, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Timor-Leste, and Tuvalu.

Travellers should check if they need hotel bookings, return tickets, travel insurance, passport photographs, or proof of sufficient funds.

Thailand, Malaysia, and Mauritius Among Popular Choices

For Indian tourists, destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Mauritius are particularly attractive as they have relatively simple entry arrangements and well-established tourism infrastructure.

Thailand is among destinations that offer visa-free access to Indian passport holders in the 2026 lists, while Malaysia and Mauritius are also among the visa-free destinations.

Bhutan and Nepal are two of the most accessible to Indians, while island destinations such as Mauritius, Fiji, and Barbados are good places for beach trips and tropical holidays.

Why Visa Rules Should Be Checked Before Travel

Visa policies are not permanent. A country can change entry requirements based on bilateral relations, immigration policies, security considerations, and tourism priorities.

There can also be different rules depending on the purpose and length of the trip. A tourist may receive different treatment from someone travelling for employment, study, or business.

The Henley Passport Index itself states that its access score includes visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival arrangements, and some visitor permits or electronic travel authorisations. It does not treat a government-approved e-visa obtained before departure as visa-free access.

Check Before Booking Your Tickets

For Indian travellers, visa-free and visa-on-arrival destinations provide more flexibility when planning international holidays. But travellers should not rely only on a list published online.

When booking flights, the destination’s official immigration or embassy site can be checked for passport validity requirements, permitted stay, return-ticket requirements, and any online registration, if required.

With India's travel access to a wider range of destinations through visa-free, visa-on-arrival, and electronic arrangements, international travel can be easier to undertake, but the entry conditions should always be confirmed before departure.
