BYD to Launch Luxury Brand Denza in India on November 13: Expected Models, Features and Prices

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is set to launch its premium automotive brand Denza in India on November 13, 2026. This will be the first step in its expansion into the luxury electric vehicle industry and two models will be key to launching in India’s luxury electric vehicle market: the Denza D9 luxury MPV and the Denza Z9 GT performance-oriented shooting brake. The brand will also present its product strategy for Indian retail at the show and more details about its retail plan.

Denza will cater to those looking for premium electric mobility, cutting-edge technology, performance, and luxury interiors. A large people carrier for chauffeur-driven buyers and a high-performance electric car for those looking for something different from luxury sedans and SUVs are expected to be available.

Although news of the unveiling date for November 13 came out, final India-specific specifications, variant details, and prices are not yet verified.

Denza D9: Luxury Electric MPV to Cost ₹85–90 Lakh

The Denza D9 is expected to be one of the first models introduced in India. This large luxury MPV is focused on passenger comfort, cabin space, and premium features and a great choice for business owners, luxury car buyers, and families who want a luxury people carrier.

The electric version sold internationally has a battery pack of around 103 kWh. Reports suggest that the India-bound version could offer around 309 bhp, 360 Nm of torque, and a claimed driving range of approximately 520 km under the WLTP testing cycle. Final Indian specifications may differ.

The D9's cabin is expected to be one of its main selling points. International versions feature a 2+2+3 seating layout with second-row captain's seats for premium passenger comfort. Depending on the version, features include powered seat adjustment, ventilation, heating, massage functions, fold-out tables, and multi-zone climate control.

The model will be next to the MG M9, Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM, and Mercedes-Benz V-Class. Its electric powertrain could appeal to those who want the luxury MPV comfort without a petrol or diesel engine.

Expected price: Around ₹85 lakh to ₹90 lakh, ex-showroom, according to recent reports.

Denza Z9 GT: High-Performance Electric Shooting Brake

The Denza Z9 GT is expected to be a different proposition to India's luxury EV segment. It is not an SUV or sedan but a shooting-brake body style that combines a sporty look with the practicality of an extended rear section.

International specifications of the all-electric version include a 122.5 kWh battery and a three-motor powertrain producing about 1,140-1,156 hp depending on the specification cited. Power is delivered to all four wheels, and the car is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in about 2.7 seconds. Its WLTP range is around 600 km.

The Z9 GT also showcases Denza's technology-focused approach. International versions have advanced driver-assistance features, a sophisticated digital cabin, and specialised vehicle-control systems. In India, we will get to know exactly what equipment and charging capabilities will be available at the launch.

The car would appeal to luxury EV buyers who are after high performance with elegant design rather than a conventional premium SUV. The body style would also give the brand a very unusual product in the Indian market.

Expected price: A little over ₹1.2 to ₹1.5 crore, ex-showroom, according to current media estimates.

Denza India: Expected Models And Prices

Model Vehicle Type Expected Price (Ex-Showroom) Reported International Range
Denza D9 Luxury electric MPV ₹85–90 lakh Around 520 km WLTP
Denza Z9 GT Performance electric shooting brake ₹1.2–1.5 crore Around 600 km WLTP

Pricing, specifications, and range figures are estimates based on international specifications and media reports. They are not confirmed India-spec figures.

How will Denza be positioned in India?

Denza will be positioned above BYD’s current mainstream electric car lineup and will appeal to a more premium customer base. The brand will be positioned on the basis of its final prices, showroom strategy, after-sales support, and features in India.

The vehicles could be initially imported as CBUs according to recent reports. Dedicated showrooms in major metropolitan markets are also expected, but the final retail network and booking details are not available.

Denza was founded as a joint venture of BYD and Mercedes-Benz’s parent company in 2010. Mercedes-Benz subsequently left the partnership, and Denza was fully owned by BYD in 2024. Now it is available in many international markets and provides luxury electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Competition in India's Luxury EV market

The Denza D9 will likely be part of the premium MPV segment that includes MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire and other high-end alternatives like Lexus LM and Mercedes-Benz V-Class. Buyers will probably compare cabin comfort, space, range, charging convenience, and ownership support prior to making a decision.

The Z9 GT, on the other hand, will target a different kind of performance-oriented audience and is likely to be more performance-oriented than most high-performance vehicles. Its unique body style, powerful electric drivetrain, and claimed acceleration will set it apart from other luxury EVs.

But pricing alone will not determine the brand’s success. In this category, customers will also expect a good service network, warranty protection, easy charging, and a premium ownership experience.

What should be watched for before the launch?

The November 13 event will provide clarity on the models to be released in India. Buyers need to see the ex-showroom price, the date of booking, variants, warranty terms, charging support, and sales and service centres.

The final India-specific range and features will also be important, particularly if the vehicles are imported with specifications different from those sold in other markets.
