Kia Carens Clavis EV: What Does The 15-Year Warranty Cover?
The extended coverage is applicable to the high-voltage battery, which is one of the most important and expensive components in an electric vehicle. Kia has announced a 15-year, unlimited kilometres warranty for the first owner of eligible Carens Clavis EVs.
However, there are some conditions to the benefit. The extended 15-year coverage is only applicable to personal-use vehicles, and does not cover taxis or fleet vehicles under the same terms. For such commercial applications, Kia continues to offer the standard battery warranty of eight years or 1,60,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.
For private buyers, the longer warranty could be good for peace of mind and long-term ownership. Battery performance and durability are important to EV buyers, and a longer warranty can reduce the concern of repairs or replacement costs after several years of use.
Existing Carens Clavis EV Owners Can Also Extend Warranty
Kia has also included existing customers in the new warranty programme. Owners who purchased their Carens Clavis EV before August 1, 2026 can reportedly opt for an extension of the standard battery warranty.
Under the option, the current 8-year or 1,60,000-kilometre battery warranty can be extended to 15 years with unlimited kilometres. The extension is not automatic and comes at a one-time administrative fee of Rs 3,400, including taxes.
Existing owners will have to contact Kia dealerships to see if their car is eligible for the extended coverage. The coverage will be determined by Kia's terms and conditions as well as by the evaluation of the car. Hence, the customer needs to check the details and their coverage with an authorised Kia dealer before signing up for the extension.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Price And BaaS Option
Besides the new battery warranty, the Carens Clavis EV is also available with Kia's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. The financing model separates the cost of the vehicle from the battery, allowing customers to reduce the initial purchase price of the EV.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV starts at Rs 18.04 lakh in India, while the BaaS option brings the starting purchase price down to Rs 12.88 lakh. BaaS buyers are also charged a battery rental fee of Rs 3.3 per kilometre.
This approach could help make the initial cost of the electric MPV much cheaper, although buyers should take into account the total cost of ownership, including the per-kilometre battery rental fee, before choosing between conventional financing and BaaS.
Battery And Range Details
The Carens Clavis EV is available with two battery packs: 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The larger 51.4kWh battery pack is claimed to provide up to 490 kilometres on a single charge.
The variety of battery options and the extended warranty provide buyers with various ways to buy an EV based on driving conditions and expected ownership period. The claimed range is subjective with driving and traffic, weather, speed, and other factors, so the larger battery version is likely to be more representative of the range between charging stops.
With the 15-year unlimited kilometres battery warranty for first owners, Kia has added another long-term ownership benefit to the Carens Clavis EV. Existing owners can also extend their battery coverage for a one-time fee, subject to eligibility and vehicle evaluation.
