Kia India has officially launched the new Syros EV in India, expanding the automaker’s electric vehicle portfolio. The electric SUV is launching in India at ₹13.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and buyers who are willing to reduce the initial purchase cost can opt for Kia’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model which cuts the initial price to ₹7.99 lakh without the battery usage fee.
Kia Syros EV with two battery packs is available. The 42kWh version is priced at ₹13.49 lakh and has a 443km range on a single charge. The larger 51.4kWh Extended Range battery is priced at ₹16.99 lakh and has up to 526km range. The battery usage fee is set to ₹3.3 per km and customers can switch to pay a total of ₹20k instead of paying the full battery cost.
Kia Syros EV: Performance and Charging
The smaller battery pack provides 135hp and the 51.4kWh battery version provides 171hp. Both versions have 255Nm of torque and are designed to provide electric power on the road for long distance trips.
Fast charging is just another key feature of the Syros EV. The electric SUV can charge from 10% to 80% in around 39 minutes with compatible fast-charging infrastructure. The claimed 526km range of the Extended Range model might also help solve one of the biggest concerns of potential EV buyers: range anxiety.
Feature-Loaded Cabin
Syros EV retains the classic upright design of the standard Syros, but with an impressive technology package. One of its biggest interior highlights is the 30-inch Trinity panoramic display that brings together the digital instrument cluster and infotainment experience in an extensive screen set.
The SUV also has ventilated front seats and rear seats where the SUV is positioned as segment-first. Rear seats can slide and recline to make it easier for passengers and luggage to fit in. Features like an 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and smartphone connectivity are also included.
The Syros EV’s safety and driver assistance technology are also part of the Syros EV equipment list. The SUV has Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support that allows the battery of the vehicle to power compatible external devices.
New Ownership Approach
Besides the electric vehicle itself, Kia wants to make ownership of EVs more flexible with the BaaS model. At the beginning, it wants to lower the price barrier for electric vehicle buyers by leaving the initial vehicle price separate from the battery usage fee.
Kia also announced an assured buyback programme of up to 80% and a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty for the first owner, the launch reports said. The Syros EV will allow Kia to take advantage of the ever-competitive electric car market in India to lead in the ever-evolving electric car industry, where people are looking for longer-lasting, more technologically advanced vehicles and less expensive car ownership.
With the two battery options, 526km claimed range, fast charging, premium cabin technology and alternative BaaS ownership model, the Kia Syros EV is one of the most feature-rich new electric SUVs in its segment. Deliveries will be made on July 30, 2026.
