JSW MG Motor India is going to launch its all-new MG Majestor in India. The Majestor 4x2 AT, now available, will cost Rs 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the fully-loaded 4x4 AT will be sold for Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
By releasing this new MG, the team has a natural reason to concentrate on upper-end SUV rivals and drive the full-size vehicle alongside Toyota’s Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Volkswagen Tayron, and Skoda Kodiaq. The Majestor follows in the footsteps of the MG Gloster, the older SUV, and carries big design and feature upgrades.
While the MG brand also says the extended 5m long vehicle is now the longest SUV in its class, which is also synonymous with being a strong road presence, and for the same quality and general performance premium the vehicle brings. One of Majestor’s most noteworthy features is the new exterior, which has been overhauled for the better.
The SUV sports a shiny new front fascia featuring divided LED headlamps, slender LED DRLs, vertically stacked main lighting units, and a greatly increased width of illuminated vertical LED strips. On the grille, there is also heavy ‘MORRIS GARAGES’ branding, which would make it a very upscale, aggressive SUV style.
The 19-inch alloy wheels, which are of top-grade all-terrain tyres and with nice cladding of wheel arch sculpted body lines, make the SUV even more muscular looking and not only sit well on a side section, but also. On the opposite end, MG has integrated a new connected LED tail lamp assembly, which fills the gap left by the discrete modules on the Gloster.
There are also ‘MAJESTOR’ lettering for the tailgate, and an upgraded dual exhaust system is in place after the older quad exhaust. Inside, Majestor designs for a completely new all-black cabin look with a new dashboard as well as a new centre console. The SUV is a new concept in the premium range, complete with dual 12.3-inch infotainment and instrumentation displays in the cabin.
MG has built on to all that luxury and comfort on the Majestor, from a panoramic sunroof to a 360-degree camera to a 12-speaker JBL audio system, 64-colour ambient lighting, powered front seats complete with ventilation and massage functions, three-zone climate control and dual wireless charging pads. It is flexible, from a six-seat captain-seat configuration to a seven-seat bench configuration, depending on your preferences. There’s also a ton of practical space with the SUV:
- With all seats up, there’s 343 litres of boot space,
- When the third row is folded down, it increases to 1,350 litres.
The safety with Level 2 ADAS is standard for these models. Beneath the hood, the Majestor carries the twin-turbo, 2.0-litre diesel from the Gloster. The motor features 215 bhp and 479 Nm of torque, utilising an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. So, MG has completely redesigned this off-road kit.
This Majestor is also fitted with triple differential locks (front, centre and rear), 10 off-road modes including three drive modes and DPF alert and clearance system, all designed to boost the performance (for off-road and long-distance driving). MG is also aligning its value proposition with that of the Fortuner.
The Majestor 4x4 AT undercuts the Fortuner 4x4 AT, which has more power, larger dimensions and a world-standard off-road component lineup than anything contained by the Toyota SUV. MG is also pairing its 5-5-5 ownership package to the Majestor with five years of unlimited kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years of scheduled maintenance (free), to make it more appealing.
The MG Majestor features a punchy finish, plush interiors, ultra-high performance features, and off-road performance that make it one of India’s most feature-rich, cutting-edge, and tech-savvy vehicles on the road.
