MG Windsor EV Crosses 75,000 Sales in Under Two Years, Becomes Brand's Best-Selling Electric Car in India

JSW MG Motor India has said its Windsor EV has crossed the 75,000 unit sales milestone in less than two years since it launched in India and it is the company’s best-selling model in the country.

The electric crossover, which launched in September 2024, has become one of India’s fastest-growing electric vehicles with MG saying it sold more than 19,000 vehicles between January and June 2026. The Windsor also saw a 13 percent year-on-year increase in sales during the first half of calendar year 2026 in terms of overall demand with MG.

Battery-as-a-Service Drives Demand

As a major factor in Windsor EV's exceptional success, MG's innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model significantly reduces the vehicle's upfront purchase cost.

Under the scheme, buyers can buy the Windsor EV at an ex-showroom price of 9.99 lakh and pay a battery subscription charge of Rs 3.90 per kilometre separately.

For customers who want to buy the battery themselves, the Windsor EV is also available in the conventional purchase model from Rs 14.70 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variant.

MG also offers the Windsor Commute, a fleet-oriented version priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Battery Options and Driving Range

The MG Windsor EV is powered by a single electric motor that can produce 136 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque.

Customers can choose between two battery packs:

  • 38 kWh battery: A claimed driving range of 332 km on a single charge. 
  • 52.9 kWh battery (Windsor Pro): Driving range up to 449 km.

The dual battery options allow buyers to choose a model that best suits their daily commuting or long-distance travel needs.

The Cabin and Premium Features

But MG has positioned the Windsor EV as a practical family-ready electric crossover rather than performance-focused, and that’s why they focused on the Windsor EV.

The cabin has a flat-floor layout, extensive passenger space, large glass panels and the brand’s signature ‘Aero Lounge’ rear seats, which recline up to 135 degrees for improved comfort.

Inside, the dashboard has a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system controlling most of the vehicle’s functions. Combined with premium cabin materials and a long list of convenience features, the Windsor has been very much the perfect choice for families looking for a large and sleek electric vehicle.

The Windsor EV's rapid sales growth indicates the growing acceptance of electric mobility in India and MG's growing presence in the country's EV market.
