Mini has announced the new Countryman Untamed Edition globally, which is a more rugged and adventure-oriented SUV.
The special edition is a complete redesign of the classic Countryman with different exterior and interior features and colour options to make it more recognizable and more outdoorsy. Mini has not officially announced that the Untamed Edition will be available in India yet.
The new edition is meant to stand out from the regular Countryman with a tougher exterior treatment. Mini has introduced a number of styling features that help to cement the SUV’s rugged look with a new vertical grille with Dark Steel trim. The front and side profile is also improved with redesigned side sills and more underbody protection.
At the rear, the Countryman Untamed Edition receives a sculpted Dark Steel diffuser. Matt-black protective film around the wheel arches enhances the rugged look of the vehicle and also gives it a more distinguishable view. The C-pillar is also equipped with a mountain-themed Untamed badge to represent the special edition.
The SUV rides on 19-inch Untamed Edition Spoke alloy wheels. Mini says that the five-spoke design has been inspired by traditional off-road wheels, adding to the adventure-friendly nature of the vehicle. Buyers of the S and SE versions get Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres. All-terrain tyres are also available to add to the Untamed Edition's outdoor-oriented stance.
Mini is also offering the Countryman Untamed Edition with an exclusive range of exterior colours. Hideaway Grey and Nomad Blue are part of the special colour palette, while a new Frozen Nomad Blue matt finish will be available on order from January 2027. Customers can also choose from the existing Nanuq White and Midnight Black finish. The roof options are Glazed White and Jet Black.
The adventure theme is still present inside the cabin. The Countryman Untamed Edition features JCW sports seats finished in Vescin Nightshade Blue. Vintage Brown and Black upholstery options are also available, offering customers more flexibility in the configuration of the interior.
Blue detailing is used to complement the upholstery while the Untamed mountain motif is on the seats and steering wheel. Knitted surfaces on the dashboard and door panels create a more distinctive interior look. Mini has also brought in a Millennial Melange colour theme for the interior.
Practicality has not been neglected. The central storage box has been redesigned with elastic retaining straps compatible with the outdoor-oriented positioning of the vehicle. The idea is to allow you to carry small items during travel and for recreation.
The Untamed Edition has a wide range of powertrain options on the bonnet and floor, depending on the version selected. Mini is making the special edition available in C, S, E and SE versions with petrol and electric powertrain options. The ALL4 all-wheel-drive system is reserved for selected models.
The Countryman Untamed Edition SE also gets a 15mm increase in ride height in comparison to the standard model. The extra ground clearance adds to the adventure aspect of this edition, but the model is still an SUV for daily driving and outdoor use, not for off-road.
The Countryman Untamed Edition is also equipped with an optional towbar for up to 2,000kg. It can support a roof load of up to 75kg while moving and 300kg in its stationary condition.
Mini has also developed a dedicated outdoor accessory range for the Untamed Edition. The accessories are meant to add to the lifestyle aspects of the vehicle and give owners more options for outdoor activities.
For India, the Countryman Untamed Edition could appeal to Mini fans in terms of its striking design, premium cabin and petrol and electric powertrain options as well as practicality. There is no news of an India launch date for this special edition. When it would come to the market in India it would depend on Mini's local product strategy and the product demand and the market positioning within the country.
The Mini Countryman Untamed Edition gives the SUV a better adventure-forward look but still retains the premium and lifestyle-oriented qualities of the Countryman name. Hard-driving exterior, special interior touches, bigger wheels, optional all-terrain tyres, increased ride height on the SE and towing capacity for 2,000kg are among its features that differentiate it from the rest of the Countryman line-up. For international buyers, the special edition is a more personalised version of the SUV, whereas Indian buyers will have to wait for an official announcement to know if it will come to the country.
