Mitsubishi Pajero is coming back. The famous SUV is going to come back from the dead after disappearing from the market in 2021.
The new Pajero will be launched on September 2, 2026, and Mitsubishi has already posted some teasers to give car fans a taste of what will be coming in the new SUV.
The Pajero is one of Mitsubishi’s most well-known off-road vehicles, and it will definitely continue that tradition but will now come with modern technology and a more premium cabin.

1. The Pajero Will Return With A Rugged Ladder-Frame Platform
One of the greatest details Mitsubishi has confirmed is the new Pajero's platform.
The SUV will run on a ladder-frame chassis based on the Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck. Mitsubishi says it has developed the new Pajero with specific changes to the cabin, front suspension and rear suspension instead of just turning the pickup into an SUV.
A ladder-frame platform is usually used in vehicles for tough off-road conditions. It can be the basis for driving rough roads, rocky trails, and daunting terrain.
This also tells us something important about the direction Mitsubishi has taken with the new Pajero. The company is not turning the nameplate into a soft city-focused SUV.
Mitsubishi wants the Pajero to remain a serious off-road vehicle, but have better comfort for everyday use as we are going to be able to drive the Pajero on the road on a daily basis and still be a serious off-road vehicle.
According to reports, the new SUV will also have a solid rear axle, showing off-road performance through the rear axle and in line with off-road vehicle performance.
2. The focus of all this will be four-wheel drive.
The new Pajero will also get Mitsubishi's S-AWC four-wheel-drive technology.
I think it will really help the SUV to control how it will be able to turn and how it will travel and how and why it will move around the different surfaces.
Mitsubishi has not yet revealed all of the technical details of the system, but the company’s teasers clearly show that off-road ability remains an important part of the Pajero’s identity.
It is important because the older Pajero became famous for its performance out of the normal roads. Motor racing also helped build a reputation for it and the model won the Dakar Rally.
That’s a lot to live up to for the new generation.

3. The New Pajero Will Bring Back An Old-School Feature.

Old Pajero models had dashboard instruments that showed information like altitude, vehicle pitch, and roll. Mitsubishi has now brought the concept back in a modern digital form.
The new system will then show information including elevation, pitch and roll angles, torque distribution, compass direction and outside temperature.
