Range Rover Sport Electric Booking Starts: 609km Range, 550hp Power And Expected Price

Land Rover has opened bookings in India for the new Range Rover Sport Electric, putting an all-electric powertrain into the brand's popular luxury SUV line. A dual-motor all-wheel-drive model with a large 118.5kWh battery and a claimed WLTP range of up to 609km, the new electric SUV combines Range Rover’s classic look and premium cabin with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system (all-electric at the same time).

The Range Rover Sport Electric is a performance-focused luxury EV, not a completely separate design statement. Its exterior is as much as possible on the combustion-powered Range Rover Sport, while its electric version has EV-specific design changes and aerodynamic updates.

JLR has opened order books for the model in India, although the final India price has not yet been officially announced. The SUV will be available in Indian showrooms by March 2027 and the price is estimated to be around ₹2.4 crore to ₹2.5 crore.

Range Rover Sport Electric: 609km Range And 550hp Power

The electric powertrain is the biggest feature of the Range Rover Sport Electric. The 118.5kWh battery pack is combined with two electric motors powering each axle. Together with 550hp and 850Nm of torque, it provides the SUV with the performance expected from the Range Rover Sport nameplate.

The SUV will accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 4.5 seconds which is the same as the P540 V8-powered Range Rover Sport. JLR has also sought to get torque up fast to its output with a claim that torque is up much faster than in the larger Range Rover Electric.

The 609km claimed WLTP range is another major selling point. The figure is slightly higher than the range offered by the larger Range Rover Electric, even if the Sport Electric uses the same 118.5kWh battery capacity. In the real world, the range will differ by driving conditions, temperature, road conditions, and driving style.

Fast Charging And Battery Details

The Range Rover Sport Electric is based on JLR’s MLA-Flex architecture and uses an 800-volt electrical system. It supports DC fast charging at up to 350kW, and the battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 22 minutes when connected to a suitable high-power charger.

JLR even states that a 10-minute charging session can add as much as 220km of range. These charging capabilities are particularly important for a large luxury SUV, where battery size and vehicle weight can otherwise make charging times a big consideration.

The battery has an eight-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty, whichever comes first, according to specifications for the India-bound model.

Sporty Handling And Off-Road Capability

Despite switching to electric power, the Range Rover Sport Electric retains the model’s focus on performance and dynamic driving. The body structure is 61 per cent stiffer than the ICE model and the centre of gravity is 73mm lower.

The SUV has a high-end suspension setup with double wishbones at the front and a five-link arrangement at the rear. Air suspension, twin-valve dampers, active roll control, and all-wheel steering are also included in the package.

This electric SUV remains the same as the Range Rover. It has all-wheel drive and torque management to provide traction on any surface and in any situation, and the Sport Electric will be able to have the off-road performance with its off-road style.

Exterior And Interior Features

Visually, the Range Rover Sport Electric is very similar to its petrol and diesel-powered siblings. It has a closed-off, aerodynamically optimized grille, LED lighting, and Range Rover's familiar upright SUV profile. Customers, depending on the variant, can opt for wheels of up to 22 inches and flush-fitting door handles and black exterior elements.

Inside, the cabin has the same overall design language as the current Range Rover Sport. The dashboard has a 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 13.7-inch digital driver display. The electric model has EV-specific information and menus that explain battery usage and range.

The SUV will be offered as a five-seater and will have premium features such as four-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, rear sunblinds, and wireless smartphone charging.

Range Rover Sport Electric India Price And Launch

While bookings have been opened, the official India price is still awaited. Current estimates suggest that the Range Rover Sport Electric should be priced around ₹2.5 crore ex-showroom. Variant estimates currently range from around ₹2.56 crore for the Dynamic SE to ₹2.66 crore for the First Edition, but these are expected prices rather than officially announced India prices.

The SUV is expected to be launched in India in March 2027 and will be fully imported. As an imported EV, it will not receive tariff concessions under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement.

The Range Rover Sport Electric will be available in India’s luxury electric SUV space along with the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Electric and other upcoming luxury EVs. At 550hp, 850Nm, a 609km claimed range, and the distinctive Range Rover package, the new model will add to JLR's electric portfolio in India and maintain the performance and luxury qualities of the Sport badge.
