Renault is also going to add a new turbocharged version to the Triber line-up. The new Renault Triber Turbo should be more powerful for the seven-seat MPV that is now available in India in September 2026.
Triber has a deep cabin, flexible seating and cheap positioning. But the existing naturally aspirated petrol engine has been perceived as less powerful, especially when the MPV is carrying several passengers.
A turbocharged engine would alleviate this issue and bring the vehicle back to life.
Turbo-Petrol Engine Expected
The new Triber Turbo will have Renault’s 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The engine is already available in Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite with around 100hp and 160Nm of torque.
A similar setup in the Triber would give a noticeable performance boost over the existing naturally aspirated motor. The extra torque should help the MPV accelerate more confidently, especially during highway overtaking, uphill driving and when the vehicle is fully loaded.
The stronger engine would also make Triber more attractive to customers who have found the current petrol version adequate for city use but less comfortable on long trips.
Manual and CVT Gearbox Options
Renault will offer the turbocharged engine with different transmission choices. Reports indicate that a five-speed manual gearbox could be available, while a CVT automatic may also be offered on a few variants.
The availability of an automatic transmission could also boost the Triber’s appeal— especially for urban buyers who spend a lot of time in stop-and-go traffic. Renault has yet to formally reveal its full powertrain line-up, however.
CNG Variant Also Reportedly in the Works
Renault is also developing a factory-fitted CNG version of the Triber to go alongside the turbo-petrol. The company is designing a dual-cylinder CNG arrangement that could be placed under the boot floor.
Such a setup might make Renault able to retain much of the Triber’s practical cabin space and luggage volume but give customers a more economical fuel option.
Testing cars with Turbo and CNG badges have already been seen, suggesting Renault is working on a wider update to the Triber range.
Expected Pricing
The Triber Turbo is estimated to be priced above the naturally aspirated versions in Renault's line-up. The turbo versions could be priced at about ₹80,000 to ₹90,000 but pricing will be announced by Renault closer to launch.
If the turbocharged engine can deliver the expected improvement in performance, the new Triber would also be a better choice in the affordable seven-seater market.
