Train services on some routes connecting Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka will be affected on October 27 and 28 due to railway engineering work between Tiptur and Honnavalli Road stations in Tumakuru district. The South Western Railway has announced cancellations, route diversions and changes to departure timings for several passenger and express trains to enable the installation of a composite girder at Level Crossing No. 88.
The work requires the temporary suspension of railway traffic and power supply on the affected section. This will lead to passengers travelling from Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Arsikere, Tumakuru, Hassan, Hubballi and other destinations to experience a change in their train journey.
The affected services include the Bengaluru–Arsikere passenger trains, Yelahanka–Arsikere MEMU services, Jan Shatabdi Express trains and a number of long-distance express services. Passengers are advised to check their train numbers, departure dates and revised routes before leaving the train station.
Trains Cancelled on October 27
Four passenger train services will still be cancelled on October 27 due to the engineering block between Tiptur and Honnavalli Road stations.
The cancelled trains are:
- Train No. 56224: Arsikere–KSR Bengaluru Passenger
- Train No. 56229: KSR Bengaluru–Channapatna Passenger
- Train No. 56230: Channapatna–KSR Bengaluru Passenger
- Train No. 56223: KSR Bengaluru–Arsikere Passenger
These cancellations might affect passengers who are frequent users of local passenger trains in Bengaluru, Channapatna and Arsikere.
Yelahanka–Arsikere MEMU Trains Cancelled on October 28
Two MEMU services between Yelahanka and Arsikere will also be cancelled on October 28.
The affected services are:
- Train No. 66505: Yelahanka–Arsikere MEMU
- Train No. 66506: Arsikere–Yelahanka MEMU
Passengers travelling on this route should check the possibility of alternative services before making the journey. The cancellations are due to the scheduled railway infrastructure work in the Tiptur–Honnavalli Road section.
Bengaluru–Shivamogga Jan Shatabdi Express Diverted
Train No. 12090, the Shivamogga Town–KSR Bengaluru Jan Shatabdi Express, will be on a diverted route on October 27.
Instead of going through the affected section, the train will be going through Arsikere, Hassan, Nelamangala and Yesvantpur. The train will not stop at Tiptur and Tumakuru stations.
Passengers who board or alight at these two stations should make alternative arrangements. Travellers who use the Jan Shatabdi Express should confirm the new route and stopping pattern before travelling.
Bengaluru–Hosapete Passenger Train to Follow a Diverted Route
Train No. 56519, the KSR Bengaluru–Hosapete Passenger, will run on a diverted route on October 27 and October 28.
The train will travel via Chikkabanavara, Nelamangala, Hassan and Arsikere.
However, the service will not stop at the following stations during the diversion:
- Dodbele
- Kyatsandra
- Tumakuru
- Gubbi
- Ammasandra
- Tiptur
Passengers going to these stations should check for other train services or transport options. The changes would mainly affect those who rely on intermediate stations along the Bengaluru–Tumakuru–Tiptur corridor.
Puducherry–Dadar Express Route Changed
Train No. 11006, the Puducherry–Dadar Express, will also be diverted on October 27.
The train will operate via Chikkabanavara, Nelamangala, Hassan and Arsikere instead of its usual route through the affected section.
The express train will not stop at Tumakuru and Tiptur stations. Passengers who are going to board or alight at these locations must check the revised arrangements before embarking.
Bengaluru–Hubballi Jan Shatabdi Diverted on October 28
Train No. 12079, the KSR Bengaluru–Hubballi Jan Shatabdi Express, will take a diverted route on October 28.
The train will operate via Nelamangala, Hassan and Arsikere. It will not stop at Tumakuru and Tiptur stations.
Passengers who are travelling between Bengaluru and Hubballi should take note of the new route and plan for boarding at that time and keep their plans as per the new ones.
Three Express Trains to Depart Later Than Scheduled
Apart from cancellations and diversions, departure timings for three express trains have been changed.
The revised timings are as follows:
- 1. Vasco da Gama–Yesvantpur Express (Train No. 17310): The train that is scheduled to leave Vasco da Gama on October 27 will leave 120 minutes, or two hours, later than the expected departure time.
- 2. Talaguppa–KSR Bengaluru Express (Train No. 20652): The train leaving from Talaguppa on October 28 will leave 140 minutes, or two hours and 20 minutes, later than the expected.
- 3. Chikkamagaluru–Yesvantpur Express (Train No. 16239): The train to leave Chikkamagaluru on October 28 will leave 60 minutes, or one hour, later than the train is usually expected to leave.
When making the trip to the train station, passengers travelling on these services should be aware of the revised departure times.
What Passengers Should Do Before Travelling
The railway engineering work is intended to enable the installation of a composite girder at Level Crossing No. 88 between Tiptur and Honnavalli Road stations. Because the work is temporary, there will be a number of passenger and express services affected over the two days.
Passengers should check the current train running status, departure times, route diversions and station stoppages before starting their trip. Travellers to or from Tiptur and Tumakuru should be especially aware of the trains that will bypass these stations.
Travellers can check official railway updates through the Indian Railways passenger enquiry system, the NTES train enquiry service, or authorised railway information channels.
With many services cancelled or diverted on October 27 and 28, having the latest information in advance can prevent passengers from waiting too long, missing connections, and last-minute travel disruptions. The new timetabling and stopping arrangements should be confirmed before departure, but the details may then be posted in the railway announcement.
