Vijayalakshmi Takes Legal Action Against Dhanveer; Criminal Defamation Case Filed in Bengaluru

The war of words between Kannada actor Dhanveer Gowda and Vijayalakshmi Darshan, wife of actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, has taken a new turn as she has filed a private criminal defamation complaint against him in Bengaluru court, alleging that he has made defamatory statements about her and her family.

The complaint was filed on 31 October 2026 before the 37th ACMM Court in Bengaluru. Media reports say Vijayalakshmi has moved court against the actor under relevant provisions of BNS and BNSS.

The court has reportedly set the next hearing in the matter for November 30, 2026.

What are Vijayalakshmi’s allegations against Dhanveer?

Vijayalakshmi has alleged that some statements made by Dhanveer had damaged her reputation and personal dignity. She reportedly referred to the statements circulated through media and other public channels.

She says in the complaint that she will produce supporting material (audio recordings, electronic records and copies of documents) before the court.

Vijayalakshmi has sought action under Section 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (criminal defamation). She reportedly also requested that her complaint be considered under the provisions of BNSS applicable to her complaint.

The allegations are part of the complainant’s case and have not been established by a court. Dhanveer’s response to this particular criminal complaint was not in any reports cited above.

Legal Complaint Filed Under BNS and BNSS Provisions

According to reports, the private complaint was filed under Sections 222 and 210 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Vijayalakshmi has reportedly requested the court to consider the complaint and proceed in accordance with law.

She has also agreed to produce relevant electronic evidence and recordings during the proceedings.

The complaint goes on to say that further judicial action will be taken (process or summons against Dhanveer if the court thinks the grounds are sufficient).

Vijayalakshmi’s counsel Vanitha R is named in the complaint documents, media reports said. The matter is now with the Bengaluru court for further consideration.

The complaint was filed because Vijayalakshmi and Dhanveer (who used to be close friends) had a falling out.

The dispute has reportedly involved public statements, social media posts, and allegations about personal and financial differences.

The difference became more widely known when Dhanveer made comments in interviews about Vijayalakshmi and circumstances surrounding Darshan’s legal troubles in the Renukaswamy murder case.

Earlier, Darshan and Vijayalakshmi had also moved a Bengaluru civil court for an injunction restraining Dhanveer from making false or defamatory statements against them and their family.

In a Bar and Bench report published on 29 October, the couple had sought protection against statements about their personal, family, financial and legal matters (including the Renukaswamy case).

Court Proceedings to Continue on November 30

The latest criminal defamation complaint is just one more development in the dispute, which has moved beyond public exchanges into legal proceedings.

The next hearing is reportedly set for November 30, 2026. How the matter proceeds depends on how the court treats the complaint and any subsequent directions.

For now, the allegations made by Vijayalakshmi are claims in a private complaint. Any finding of criminal liability will depend on judicial process and evidence placed before the court.
