Google Fitbit Air India Launch: Screenless Tracker To Arrive On October 2 With 7-Day Battery Life

Google is bringing its latest Fitbit wearable to India as the company expands its health and fitness tracking portfolio. The new Google Fitbit Air, a screenless fitness tracker, will be available for sale on October 2. Unlike smartwatches and fitness bands, the device does not have a display and instead takes health and activity data into account that can be seen through the Google Health app.

Fitbit Air was developed for people who want to receive continuous health and fitness tracking without the distractions of a smartwatch. Google has positioned the wearable as its smallest and lightest Fitbit tracker yet, with a compact pebble-shaped design that can be paired with interchangeable bands.

Google Fitbit Air Price In India

The Google Fitbit Air will be available in India at a price of Rs. 13,999. The screenless fitness tracker will be offered in four colour options, such as Obsidian, Berry, Lavender and Fog.

As part of the launch offer, customers purchasing the device will receive a three-month trial of Google Health Premium. Google will also offer Rs 1,000 cashback on selected HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank cards during the launch period, subject to the terms and conditions.

Google also offers an Elevated Modern Band to customers for a more premium look. The additional band option is for users who want to use the tracker as both a fitness accessory and an everyday wearable.

Where To Buy Fitbit Air In India

Fitbit Air will be available through various online and offline retail channels across India. Users will be able to purchase the tracker via the Google Store, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales and other retailers.

The wide retail availability means buyers will have multiple options, prices, payment offers and band configurations to compare. The launch-period cashback and other promotional benefits, however, may depend on the retailer and payment method.

Screenless Design Focuses On Health Tracking

One of the major differences between Fitbit Air and existing fitness trackers is the lack of a screen. There is no display of notifications or on-device information on the device. Data on a connected smartphone is seen in the Google Health app.

Google says the Fitbit Air can continuously monitor several health-related metrics like heart rate, resting heart rate and heart rate variability. The tracker can also provide irregular heart rhythm or atrial fibrillation-related notifications, sleep tracking and blood oxygen monitoring.

The wearable can automatically detect certain activities and people can track workouts without starting them every time. This type of fitness tracking is based on passive tracking where data is collected throughout the day.

Health notifications and measurements should not be considered in place of professional medical advice. Also, users should check the availability and limitations of individual health features in their region.

Google Health Coach Integration

Another key feature of the Fitbit Air is its integration with Google Health Coach. Health Coach can then analyse health and activity information and provide tailored guidance based on the user's daily habits.

The feature can use information obtained from the wearable to gain insights on activity and habits. Fitbit Air can also automatically log workouts and users can access guided exercise sessions through the connected ecosystem.

Google also made it so that with a smartphone camera, users can track equipment and workout routines. This makes it easier to get to know and track exercise and the Fitbit Air itself is also easier to use and screen-free.

Fitbit Air Battery Life

Battery performance is also an important part of the Fitbit Air experience. Google estimates that the tracker can last up to seven days on a single charge.

A five-minute charging session can last up to a full day, the company says. A brief charge could be useful for users who don’t want to leave the tracker plugged into a charger for long periods of time.

Battery life is also determined by usage, tracking features and other factors.

Bands And Design Options

Fitbit Air has a pebble-style design so that users can change its appearance as they choose. The Performance Loop Band is built with the tracker and uses recycled materials, while the Active Band is based on workouts and physical activity.

The screenless form factor makes the device different from traditional Fitbit smartwatches and fitness bands. Rather than keeping users engaged through a screen, the wearable is meant to operate quietly in the background while collecting health and activity information.

With its Rs 13,999 price, seven-day battery life, health monitoring features and Google Health Coach integration, Fitbit Air is entering the Indian market as an alternative to display-based wearables. Its October 2 launch will provide Indian consumers with another way to monitor fitness and health data without having to wear a regular smartwatch on their wrist.
