GTA VI is getting closer to release and soon Indian players will be able to download the game before it officially launches. Rockstar Games announced that digital pre-loading for GTA 6 will begin on November 10 so PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can start getting ready for the November 19 launch date.
Rockstar’s latest pre-load info says that the download schedule will be different between PlayStation and Xbox consoles. PS5 players in India can start downloading game at 12 AM IST on November 10; pre-load opens local time (midnight) in each region.
For Xbox Series X and S users the download starts globally at 12 AM GMT on November 10 so players in India can start downloading GTA 6 from 5:30 AM IST that day.
However, just because players download the game does not mean they can play it immediately. Access will be locked until the official release date.
GTA 6 Download Size and Storage Requirements
Storage space is another thing players need to consider as they prepare for launch. Rockstar support information says GTA 6 may require up to 212GB of available storage (depending on device).
PS5 users have been specifically told to leave at least 212GB free space before pre-load starts. If you don’t have a lot of storage available you may need to remove unused games or other files to make room for the install.
Downloading the game ahead of time will prevent players from having to wait for a big download on launch day. It’ll also give them time to get their consoles ready before the expected flood of people accessing the game.
How to Enable GTA 6 Pre-Loading on PS5 and Xbox
If you have digitally pre-ordered GTA 6 make sure automatic downloads are turned on on your console.
On PS5 users can go to their Game Library -> GTA 6 under their collection -> check automatic download settings. Also keep the console connected to internet and enable downloads in Rest Mode while playing the game so that it is completed.
Xbox players should turn on automatic updates and have their console turned on (or put into Sleep mode). These settings will cause the console to download the game when pre-loading becomes available.
GTA 6 Release Date and Platforms
Rockstar Games has set November 19, 2026 as the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are two main characters caught up in a criminal conspiracy across the fictional state of Leonida. Vice City (inspired by Miami) is one of the major locations in the game.
GTA 6 is available for pre-order in India. Standard Edition costs Rs 5,999 and Ultimate Edition costs Rs 7,499.
The pre-download window opens on November 10 so Indian gamers have just over a week to prepare their consoles for launch (November 19). For those of us who have been waiting years for the next instalment, the countdown is over.
