The technology market is experiencing a major diversification strategy as Hewlett-Packard, a world-famous PC maker, is now jumping into the Android tablet market with its new HP OmniPad 12. The HP OmniPad 12 is now available for sale in India and is meant to be a versatile 2-in-1 productivity device to compete with current tablets from big companies including OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Microsoft. The device combines high-end mobile hardware with the flexibility of a detachable keyboard and will help bridge the gap between portable entertainment and professional work.
From a market positioning and pricing point of view, the HP OmniPad 12 is available in India in two storage configurations. The basic configuration with 128GB of storage is priced at Rs 48,999, and the more expensive configuration with 256GB of storage is priced at Rs 54,999. In India, prospective buyers can purchase the tablet through the HP online store, e-commerce portals (Amazon and Flipkart), offline stores (Reliance Digital, Croma, Vijay Sales, HP World), and retail shops. The brand has also announced cashback offers and a large array of AI subscriptions to attract early adopters for the tablet.
In terms of hardware, the OmniPad 12 has a large 12-inch 2K multi-touch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of peak brightness. It is based on a powerful hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of the 6 Gen family (SM6475Q chip) coupled with 8GB of fast LPDDR5 RAM. Media and files can be stored up to 1TB in the tablet's microSD card slot. It runs Android 16 software and has the best user-oriented apps including desktop windows.
Based on its decades-old design heritage in personal computer technology, HP has built the OmniPad 12 with a beautiful, detachable soft-cover keyboard that is made with recycled materials. This transformation turns the slate into a laptop replacement for typing, studying, and working from a mobile office environment. For multimedia use, it has a full quad-speaker setup with DTS:X Ultra and dual high-SNR microphones. The imaging hardware has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for video conferencing. Connectivity features are very good (Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB Type-C port for mobile). The 600-gram device has a dual-cell 31Wh battery and can provide up to 18 hours of continuous battery life on a single charge, so it’s a suitable choice for a modern mobile user.
