Reliance Jio has expanded JioPC cloud computing services to a bigger audience. It was only available to JioHome broadband subscribers in India.
JioPC will provide cloud computing power to an existing computer. The ability to use additional computing resources without upgrading or replacing your laptop or desktop is available to users.
The company has two plans, with the higher-end offering up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of cloud storage.
How does JioPC work?
JioPC is a computer delivered from the cloud. The hardware inside a laptop or desktop is not used, but instead users access computing resources remotely with an internet connection.
Jio is positioning the service as a choice for people who may have older computers but still need access to more computing power. The heavier computing work is handled through the cloud, and users access the virtual computer through their existing device.
The service can be accessed through a browser on an existing laptop or desktop. JioPC can be used through a Jio Set Top Box connected to a TV or monitor, but this option requires a Jio broadband connection.

The prices include GST. Both configurations use Ubuntu, a Linux-based operating system.
The Ultra version has twice the RAM and storage capacity of the standard JioPC plan. It also has twice the number of CPU cores, which is the more powerful option for users with high computing needs.

No JioHome Connection Needed
The most significant change that has been made with the latest version of JioPC is that users no longer need JioHome broadband to subscribe.
The service is now available to consumers using other telecom or broadband providers. Users only need a stable internet connection to access their cloud computer.
Jio says the service can work with broadband as well as reliable 4G and 5G connectivity. That makes JioPC available to a much larger group of users across the country.
