The new Vivo S2 has already appeared online, ahead of its release date next month and it looks like smartphone lovers have a good idea about the design of the phone and colour options.
On social media and technology forums, leaked renders indicate that Vivo is preparing its new mid-range smartphone with a refreshed look, improved cameras and enhanced performance for younger users.
Although Vivo has yet to officially state the specifications of the device or launch date, the recent leaks point toward Vivo S2 continuing with its sleek design aesthetic, lightweight construction and camera-centric features. And the leaked images already have smartphone fans excited to see what Vivo’s next S-series will look like.
Premium Design Gets a Refresh
The Vivo S2 will have a new flat-frame design with rounded edges and a premium in-hand feel to it according to the leaked renders. The rear panel appears to have a redesigned camera module integrated into the back of the device that blends in and looks very clean and modern.
The smartphone also should have slim bezels around the screen and a centrally placed front camera cutout, to maximize screen space for an immersive viewing experience. Overall design language seems to follow current flagship smartphone trends while maintaining Vivo's signature minimalist styling.
Expected Colour Options
Leaks suggest that the Vivo S2 will come in a lot of different colours to appeal to different user preferences. While official names are not known yet, we are hopeful that the smartphone will be available in classy colours like:
- Midnight Black
- Glacier Blue
- Pearl White
- Sunset Pink (select markets)
These colours are expected to be glossy or matte in finish, depending on the colour variants, and I expect that this is to add premium aesthetics to the phone.
Display Expectations
The Vivo S2 would be equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The display would allow the graphics to scroll smoothly, gaming performance to be better and high-quality colour display to be available for multimedia use.
Moreover, there are reports of high brightness levels, playback of HDR content, and an in-display fingerprint scanner for better security.
Performance
The Vivo S2 is expected to have a MediaTek Dimensity or Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset for the backend (depending on the region). It will be able to achieve a good workload in daily multitasking, gaming, photography and AI.
The smartphone could have up to 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, with memory expansion features through virtual RAM technology to help multitasking.
Camera Upgrades
The Vivo S2’s photography will surely remain one of its biggest strengths. Rumors indicate the device could have a 50MP primary rear camera integrated with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an ultra-wide sensor and macro or depth camera.
On the front, Vivo may introduce a high-resolution selfie camera for portrait photography, beauty enhancement and high-quality video calls. AI-powered image processing, Night Mode, portrait optimization and 4K video recording will be among the things we expect.
Battery and Charging
The Vivo S2 is expected to have a battery of around 5,000mAh and have all-day battery life under normal use. Fast charging support of 80W or higher is also expected and the phone will be able to be recharged in a minimal amount of time.
Battery optimization tools powered by artificial intelligence would further increase endurance by managing background applications and reducing unnecessary power consumption.
Software and AI Features
The smartphone will run the latest version of Android with Vivo’s custom Funtouch OS interface. AI-based features are going to be available: intelligent photo editing, voice assistance, smart translation, document scanning and productivity tools to enhance the user experience.
Improved privacy controls, better multitasking and smoother animations are also expected to be part of the software package.

Expected Launch and Availability
According to industry sources, Vivo might unveil the S2 with a firm release date soon after launch day. Pricing is not yet known but is expected to be in the mid-range segment against rivals from Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO and Realme.
As with any pre-launch leak, the specifications and design details are only preliminary until Vivo makes an official announcement. Nevertheless, the leaked renders indicate that the Vivo S2 could be nice looking, have good cameras, smooth display performance and fast charging.
If all rumors are true, the Vivo S2 could be one of the most competitive smartphones in the market with flagship-inspired design and features at a much lower price.
