Xiaomi is preparing to expand its wearable and audio portfolio in China with the launch of two new products. Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm and Redmi Buds 8s will be available later this month and both are expected to be launched with the company’s upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series. Xiaomi has already given some information about design, colour and specifications of the two products ahead of launch.
Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm has already been available for pre-order on Xiaomi’s official online store in China, so users can get an early look at the new smartwatch. Xiaomi is not providing any details as to pricing and release date but the company did give us a sense of what we can expect from the new compact wearable.
Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm Design and Colour Options
The Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm has a circular watch face and a rotating crown on the right side of its case. The crown will be a convenient way for users to access menus and watch functions as well as interact with the smartwatch. The wearable will also have replaceable straps for wrist straps so that the watch can be changed with a device that can be customized to the wrist watch.
As the name suggests the smartwatch will have a 41mm dial. Xiaomi has revealed that the device weighs around 36 grams and is 9.9mm in thickness. These are relatively small devices and will be useful for those who are used to smaller wearables.
Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm is available in five colour options. The company has teased blue, gray, green, purple and silver versions of its watch. The different finishes are expected to give customers more options when they choose a smartwatch of their own, more choices in terms of style in terms of what they like.
Health and Fitness Features
Xiaomi is also adding health, fitness and lifestyle features to the Watch S5 41mm. The smartwatch will monitor menstrual cycles and give exercise suggestions. At least these features should not only help you monitor your workout performance but also monitor how you are doing health-wise.
The new smartwatch is also going to come with a diet calorie management system. This feature might help users track calorie data and fitness and diet goals on one hand and keep track of calories in other. Xiaomi also said the UV intensity of the watch can be detected so users can be more aware of UV exposure when they are outside.
Battery life is another major feature of the new wearable. Xiaomi claims Watch S5 41mm can last more than 14 days on one charge. Real life endurance might be dependent on, for example, health monitoring, workout tracking, notifications and other smartwatch functions.
The Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm will run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4 software. The new operating system will be available with the smartwatch and will enable it to interface with Xiaomi’s wider device ecosystem, and integrate with Xiaomi’s other products.
Redmi Buds 8s Design Revealed
Xiaomi is also preparing to launch the Redmi Buds 8s in China along with the smartwatch. The new TWS earbuds have been teased with a small pebble-looking charging case with a horizontal LED indicator on the front as well as at the top.
Unlike many in-ear wireless earbuds which use silicone tips, the Redmi Buds 8s will be half-in-ear earbuds. That means the earbuds will sit differently inside the ear and will not include silicone ear tips. The Redmi branding can also be seen inside the charging case.
The Redmi Buds 8s will be offered in three colours: black, green and white. From the small case and various colour choices, Xiaomi is positioning the new earbuds as a lifestyle-oriented audio accessory alongside its expanding Redmi ecosystem.
Launch Timeline and Availability
Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm and Redmi Buds 8s are expected to launch in China later this month. The smartwatch will be the one which will be launched alongside Xiaomi 18 Pro, making it an important event for the company's upcoming smartphone and connected devices.
The Watch S5 41mm is already available for pre-order in China through Xiaomi’s online store. But details on the final price, sales date and availability in markets outside China have not been fully revealed.
With a compact 41mm design, up to 14 days of battery life, HyperOS 4, health-oriented features and multiple colour options, Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm is very well suited to Xiaomi’s smartwatch segment. And the Redmi Buds 8s is the perfect half-in-ear device and a compact charging case to add to the company’s TWS line. Details on pricing and wider release date will come out after the official launch, which is expected in the late fall or winter.
