Caleb Flynn was found guilty Wednesday of murdering his wife Ashley Flynn in Ohio. A Miami County jury gave him a guilty verdict in Ohio after almost two and a half hours of deliberation.
Flynn, 40, also was convicted of felonious assault and tampering with evidence. The verdict followed a trial in the Miami County Court of Common Pleas in Troy, Ohio. He faces a possible sentence of life imprisonment without parole. Sentencing on the charges is scheduled for October 5.
Shooting Took Place in February
The case dates back to February 16, 2026, when Ashley Flynn, 37, was fatally shot at the couple's home in Tipp City, a community north of Dayton.
Caleb Flynn called emergency services and said that an intruder had entered his home and shot his wife. Prosecutors would later contend that the burglary storyline had been staged to hide the killing.
Flynn was arrested three days after the shooting. A criminal complaint filed in Miami County said investigators accused him of using a firearm to kill his wife.
Prosecutors' Case
In closing arguments, prosecutors argued that Flynn killed Ashley while he’d been involved in an extramarital relationship and wanted to end his marriage.
Prosecutors presented text messages between Flynn and a woman with whom he was having an affair. They also cited digital evidence that showed that Flynn was awake and moving around the home during the time he had told investigators he was sleeping.
Investigators did not recover the gun they believed was used in the killing. But prosecutors said that physical evidence at the scene (Flynn’s DNA and fingerprints) and digital evidence (sending and reading messages) linked him to the crime.
Defence Disputes Allegations
Flynn’s defence argued that prosecutors had not provided direct evidence that he fired the weapon. Defense attorney Patrick Mulligan argued that Flynn’s infidelity did not prove that he committed murder.
The defence also pointed to the fact that the firearm had not been recovered. Flynn had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Flynn’s attorney said the defence was disappointed and expected to file an appeal.

Flynn had been on American Idol in 2013. During his appearance he spoke about his musical ambitions and said his wife had encouraged him to pursue the singing competition.
He performed before judges Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson and Nicki Minaj but did not make it to the Hollywood stage of the competition.
