Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated development projects worth about ₹26 crore in Beerwah, Budgam district on October 23, 2026. A highlight of the trip was the inauguration of a bridge over Nallah Sukhnag, built at a cost of around ₹8 crore, to improve connectivity and ease travel for local residents.
The projects are part of the project to enhance infrastructure development, public facilities and support development in Beerwah. The Chief Minister also mentioned upcoming beautification work and improvements to electricity-related services during the trip.
₹8 Crore Bridge Over Nallah Sukhnag Opens to Public
The newly built bridge over Nallah Sukhnag will make the Magam-Beerwah Road better and reduce the inconvenience of commuters. The bridge was a necessity for the residents in the past because traffic was blocked and the previous crossing was not functional.
Omar Abdullah said the bridge had been completed quickly and handed over to the public. He thanked Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary for helping ensure that the work was completed promptly.
The bridge will also benefit daily commuters, local businesses and people traveling for essential services. Better connectivity could also make movement through the area easier during heavy traffic.
₹4 Crore Allocated for Beerwah Beautification
The Chief Minister also announced plans to improve the appearance and public spaces around Beerwah. ₹4 crore has been allocated for beautification work including a pedestrian track along the area.
The proposed improvements are aimed at promoting a more accessible and attractive environment for residents and visitors. Walking paths and other public amenities can encourage pedestrian movement while improving the experience of people using the surrounding spaces.
The beautification initiative is also expected to build Beerwah’s tourism value proposition by improving the local ecosystem and making public areas more inviting.
Transformer Repair Workshop to Enhance Electricity Services
Omar Abdullah mentioned the foundation stone was laid for a workshop to repair electricity transformers during the visit. The facility is meant to help residents when transformers need to be repaired or replaced.
Electricity interruptions can be especially challenging in winter when we most depend on reliable power supply. If a repair center were to be built, maintenance arrangements would have a better chance of being improved and delays avoided if it was available and operational.
The Chief Minister said work on the facility would be carried out as soon as possible. The project will improve local electricity supply and transformer-related faults will be addressed.
