How Did the Electrocution Accident Happen?

Police said the accident took place when workers were laying a narrow road between Chhapoli village and Kadamkund.

A machine used for mixing gravel came into contact with an overhead high tension power line. Electricity passed through the machine and hit workers nearby.

Udaipawati Station House Officer Rampal said the workers were electrocuted after the machine touched the power line.

Some reports said the overhead line was carrying 11,000 volts; but the circumstances that caused the machine to touch the wire are still being investigated.

Eight Workers Killed, Five Injured

Eight labourers were killed in the accident all of whom were local residents.

Five other workers were injured and taken to hospital. Panic spread at the construction site as locals gathered to help and ask where the victims were from.

The tragedy has devastated families in the village and surrounding areas.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Orders Inquiry

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over the deaths and directed officials to provide proper medical treatment to those injured.

He also told the administration to provide immediate relief to families affected by the accident and ordered inquiry into the incident.

The Chief Minister asked Jhabar Singh Kharra to visit the accident site and ensure that support reached the affected families.

Work near overhead high-tension lines must be done with proper precautions, technical supervision and coordination with electricity authorities.

Officials will look into how the accident happened (construction arrangements, safety measures etc.)

While the investigation goes on, the immediate focus is on helping families affected by the accident and treating workers injured in it.
