Adidas Layoffs in Gurgaon: Nearly 350 Tech Employees Face Job Cuts

Adidas has started a major workforce reduction at its India Tech Hub in Gurgaon, which is expected to mean half of the 700 employees at the facility will be laid off, according to officials. The company was also the first to announce the move in a town hall meeting on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as a major restructuring of its technology business in India.

Adidas calls layoffs a “Difficult Decision.”

Adidas confirmed the workforce reduction to the workplace news platform Wocult, describing it as a “difficult decision.” It’s part of its strategy to incorporate business changes and to adapt how it operates,” the company said.

Adidas said the restructuring aims to make the organisation simpler; it is to simplify parts of the organisation, reinforce critical capabilities, enhance the organisation’s business and technology needs, and support the company's longer-term business and technology priorities. Adidas said it will also work to support the employees affected by such corporate restructuring.

Around 300 to 350 employees could be affected.

Wocult reported that 300 to 350 employees could be impacted, representing a considerable portion of the 700-member tech hub.

The affected workforce is said to include software engineers, data scientists, and data engineers. Adidas has not made the number public, so the 300-350 number is more likely an estimate rather than a fact.

Exit Process Begins After Town Hall

According to reports, employees were divided into different groups after the announcement. One group received exit letters on September 15, and another group is expected to remain with the company until December 15 to complete knowledge transfer and control the duties.

The transition period is to enable teams to work and do their part before the affected employees leave the organisation.

Gurgaon Tech Hub was launched in 2021

Adidas opened its India Tech Hub in Gurgaon in 2021 for technology and engineering talent. Adidas designed the centre to support Adidas’ products, digital capabilities, and technology initiatives.

So the reported layoffs are a huge change for a facility that was part of the company’s technology and innovation business in India.

Adidas says India remains strategically important.

India is still a strategically important market even after the workforce reduction, Adidas said. Adidas said its Technology Hub will also contribute to growth, innovation, and digital transformation and will continue to remain the platform for innovation and digital transformation.

The restructuring seems to be about transforming the technology roles rather than the closure of the Gurgaon hub.
