Karnataka Weather: Heavy Rain Forecast for Coastal Districts from Nov 3 to 5; Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Expected

Karnataka weather will be in a state of flux over the next few days, with thunderstorms, rainfall and strong winds expected in several districts. The weather forecast says parts of the state may experience gusty winds at 30–40 kmph between November 1 and 3. Thunderstorms with lightning and rain are also predicted in isolated places.

Several districts in South Interior Karnataka (Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Bengaluru) are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, but coastal Karnataka has been warned of heavy rainfall between November 3 and 5. While dry conditions might be relieved temporarily in some regions, thunderstorms and strong winds could inconvenience residents and commuters.

Strong winds of 30–40 kmph are likely to prevail in several districts of Interior Karnataka on November 1 and 2 (Tuesday) and Wednesday (November 3). Isolated places may also receive rain with thunder and lightning during this period. People living in the affected districts should be cautious, especially during thunderstorms.

Strong winds can disrupt outdoor activities, and lightning can strike people in open areas. People should not stand under isolated trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms and should follow official weather updates.

Coastal Karnataka will witness a gradual rise in rainfall activity during the next five days. In the first few days, isolated parts of Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts may get light rain, while Dakshina Kannada is likely to remain dry. Thereafter, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada are likely to get moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some places. Heavy rain in coastal districts (from November 3 to 5) is also forecast by IMD. Residents, fishermen and people travelling through coastal areas should keep track of weather advisories on these days.

In North Interior Karnataka, Belagavi, Dharwad, Raichur, Gadag and Koppal districts will witness gusty winds of 30–40 kmph accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms. Strong winds along with lightning may disrupt normal activities in these areas. Comparatively dry weather is likely to prevail in Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Haveri and Yadgir districts. Local weather conditions are liable to change, so residents should monitor updates for their area.

South Interior Karnataka too will see weather changes over the next few days. Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Chamarajanagar and Ramanagara districts are likely to receive moderate rainfall along with strong winds. Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural (Kolar and Chikkaballapur) may receive light rainfall also. This can result in cloudy skies and occasional showers in parts of the region. Commuters in Bengaluru may have wet roads during rain, especially at peak traffic hours.

In contrast, dry weather is expected to continue in Tumakuru, Ballari, Shivamogga, Chitradurga and Davanagere districts during the forecast period. This regional variation means that some parts of Karnataka may receive moderate to heavy rainfall but other districts will remain largely dry. People travelling between districts should check local weather before starting their journey.

Rainfall and thunderstorms are expected, so agriculture, transportation and outdoor activities may be affected. Farmers in areas expecting rainfall should monitor weather developments and take precautions (e.g., harvest protected crops and agricultural equipment) as conditions warrant; people working outdoors during lightning should avoid exposed locations; when thunderstorms occur, people should seek shelter in safe buildings; loose objects around homes and workplaces should be secured if strong winds are forecast.

The most significant weather development during this period is heavy rainfall in coastal Karnataka from November 3 to 5. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also expected in several interior districts so the coming days may see varied weather conditions across the state. People should follow official weather bulletins and local administration advisories for latest updates and take precautions wherever rainfall, lightning or gusty winds are likely to occur.
