Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has intensified his criticism of the Telangana Congress government by writing an open letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, raising concerns over employment promises made before the Assembly elections and objecting to remarks allegedly made by the state’s Chief Minister about engineering graduates and job aspirants.
KTR also accused the Telangana Chief Minister of making remarks that he called "reckless" and "irresponsible." Replying to comments made by the Chief Minister about engineering graduates, KTR questioned the language used and argued that such comments were disrespectful to lakhs of young people pursuing technical education. Rahul Gandhi had studied engineering, KTR said.
KTR also alleged that the Chief Minister made insensitive comments directed at police constable recruitment aspirants who have been demanding notifications for about 20,000 vacancies instead of the 5,000 posts that were announced. The comments made to protesting youth were unacceptable and did not reflect the responsibility expected from a constitutional office, KTR said.
The BRS leader linked the controversy to the larger issue of unemployment in Telangana. He reminded Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party’s election promise to provide two lakh government jobs within the first year of forming the government. KTR says more than two years have passed since the Congress assumed office, yet many young people still have not been allocated recruitment drives and a full job calendar.
KTR said in his letter that he wants answers on behalf of Telangana’s unemployed youth. He claimed that repeated appeals by opposition leaders and aspirants about recruitment notifications have not received a satisfactory response from the state government or the Congress leadership. He called upon Rahul Gandhi to respond to the students, graduates, and job-seeking persons in the state.
The BRS leader also warned that if Rahul Gandhi does not visit Hyderabad to address the issue, unemployed youth may organize protests outside his residence in New Delhi to seek clarification about the Congress party's election commitments. KTR says the demand is not only political but reflects the aspirations of thousands of educated young people waiting for employment opportunities.
KTR also mentioned a young man named Venu who died by suicide after leaving a note to Rahul Gandhi. KTR asked who should be held accountable and argued that the government should take the concerns of unemployed youth more seriously. The situation would have to be independently verified, and no official finding linking it to government actions has been established.
The controversy has once again brought unemployment back to the heart of Telangana's politics. Recruitment of government departments, police services, education, and other public sector institutions has been a big issue in state politics for too long, with the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS often sparring over the lack of filling vacancies.
The Congress government has maintained that recruitment processes are in accordance with administrative processes and has pointed out some of the initiatives taken since becoming office. But the opposition continues to claim that the recruitment has been slow and has fallen short of the public and election commitments.

Political analysts say employment will continue to be one of the main issues facing Telangana in the coming months. A large number of students who are preparing for competitive exams and government recruitment tests, as well as being part of the public, are at large, and so any delay in job notifications is a major topic of debate in the community.
Now, whether Rahul Gandhi or the Telangana Congress leadership will respond to KTR's letter and address the issues of employment, recruitment notifications, and the welfare of the state’s youth remains to be seen. We will see whether the issue will turn into a larger political battle or lead to a new focus on keeping promises made to employment commitments and a renewed dialogue on finding jobs.
