The injured were identified as Rasheeda (44) of Chelorath, Kayappanachi Iringannur and Kumaran (80) from Meethale Thodu Padiyal Eramala.

The car was allegedly driven by Mithal P.M. Santhosh (53) of Tharol, Nuchiyad, Perambra.

Woman Suffers Serious Leg Injuries

As per details available, the impact of the collision made the car’s tyre run over Rasheeda’s legs and she was seriously injured. She was taken immediately to a private hospital in Thalassery for emergency surgery.

Kumaran suffered relatively minor injuries and was treated at Chokli Medical Centre.

Three motorcycles parked along the roadside were damaged in the accident. The collision reportedly took place in a busy town area where pedestrians and parked vehicles were present.

CCTV Footage Leaves Residents Shocked

The CCTV footage of the accident shocked local residents and relatives of the victims too. People who saw the images said they were worried about the severity of the collision and relieved that there were no more casualties.

In the footage, the car is seen hitting the two pedestrians first before damaging the parked motorcycles. Rasheeda escaped more serious injuries as the vehicle passed over her legs in the incident.

The images have also highlighted risks faced by pedestrians in busy road areas where vehicles are parked very close to pedestrian flow.

Accident Highlights Road Safety Concerns

The incident has once again brought road safety and the dangers of vehicles losing control in crowded places into focus.

Pedestrians are vulnerable when walking on roads where footpaths aren’t clearly separated; parked motorcycles and other vehicles along narrow stretches of roadside also make it difficult for people to move around safely.

The accident shows how important it is to drive carefully, control the vehicle and obey road safety rules (especially in town centres where pedestrians are always moving).

Rasheeda’s recovery and the circumstances of the collision are important issues for the families affected and local residents.
