The arrests have also helped investigators trace their alleged involvement in 11 theft, snatching and burglary cases.

The accused were arrested by a team of Kalindi Kunj Police Station on October 25, 2026 near Peepal Chowk on Pushta Road in Madanpur Khadar area.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Umar Ansari and Sumit Beniwal (23). Police said the two men were riding on a motorcycle when officers on routine patrol saw their suspicious movement and signalled them to stop.

But instead of listening to the police officer, the motorcycle rider allegedly tried to escape. During the attempt the bike skidded and both fell on the road. Police caught them there.

One Accused Wanted in MCOCA Case

During investigation police found Mohammad Umar Ansari as an alleged member of Maya Gang. He was said to be habitual offender at Amar Colony Police Station and wanted in MCOCA case registered there in May 2026.

Ansari has been linked with 11 cases of theft, snatching and burglary: officials said. He was also alleged to be associated with Maya Gang by investigators during the operation.

The second accused Sumit Beniwal has reportedly been involved in 18 criminal cases (theft, burglary and offences under Arms Act). Police said he was an alleged habitual burglar and snatcher.

Knife, Stolen Phones and Motorcycle Recovered

The officers recovered a button operated knife from Beniwal during the search. A Realme mobile phone found in Ansari’s possession is linked to snatching case registered at Amar Colony Police Station.

Another mobile phone was also recovered from the accused. Police also seized a Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle which they reportedly traced to a theft case registered in New Friends Colony area.

After the arrests were made, investigators said they had sorted out 11 cases registered in Amar Colony, New Friends Colony and Kalkaji police station jurisdictions.

Police Intensify Action Against Street Crime

The operation was carried out by police personnel of Kalindi Kunj Police Station Constables Azharuddin and Devendra. Senior officers from South East District supervised the team.

Police said the arrests were part of stepped up patrolling, checking operations and intelligence-based efforts to control street crimes in the region.

The investigation will help authorities check the alleged criminal links of the accused and whether they were involved in other incidents.

The arrests are another step in Delhi Police’s action against suspected organised crime. We will see how much the accused persons were involved in the cases being looked into further investigation. Both are still accused and allegations against them will be dealt with in court.
