Jaipur: Rajasthan’s capital city Jaipur has become a globally recognized city in Time Out’s World’s Happiest Cities 2026 list, ranking sixth. The established Pink City is the only Indian city to make it into the top 20 lists and it is a combination of heritage, culture, delicious food and a great community and a good quality of life.
The ranking by Time Out was based on responses from over 24,000 people worldwide who rated their cities on the whole day-to-day living cycle in addition to tourism. People were asked to rate their cities on happiness, community feel, community connection and interaction, food, nightlife, and community satisfaction.
And Jaipur’s place is now among the happiest cities in the world’s happiest cities and its inclusion in that list of happiest cities is evidence that Jaipur is getting better and better in this regard as a destination with the best places to visit which has not only beautiful buildings and the best infrastructure but also a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle that isn’t just architectural beauty but also a good quality of life.
The fact Jaipur is also one of the world’s best-known and most visited cities, and the world’s happiest cities in the world’s happiest cities, one of India’s, the Pink City is also known globally for its beautiful palaces, historic forts, beautiful bazaars and warm hospitality.
Unlike many rapidly expanding metropolitan cities, Jaipur has been able to retain its historical charm while also incorporating modern development. The rankings were then calculated as a percentage of positive responses received. To ensure geographical diversity, only the highest-ranked city from each country was included in the final top 20 list.
Top in the World's Happiest Cities 2026 is Bath, United Kingdom; Panama City (Panama), Guadalajara (Mexico), Medellín (Colombia) and Kraków (Poland) are the other top cities to rank in the top ten. Jaipur is sixth among the world's most popular cities to visit.
Urban planning experts note that happiness rankings increasingly consider factors beyond economic growth. Public spaces, environmental quality, cultural identity, social interaction, accessibility, safety, recreational opportunities, and overall well-being are important indicators of how residents perceive their cities.
As Jaipur's ranking confirms, India is also rapidly making its way on the world tourism map. The city is still drawing tourists to its historical monuments and festivals, handicrafts, traditional arts, luxury heritage hotels, bustling markets and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Jaipur Literature Festival and cultural fairs also help to make it international.
The recognition will help Rajasthan’s tourism industry even more as more and more tourists will head to Jaipur to see the historical architecture, cuisine and modern city life.
