Arjun Rampal, who has been so proud of the success of the Dhurandhar franchise, has recently opened up about one of the most difficult periods in his life. In a candid conversation with Sohini on Cancelled to Crown, Rampal described how Mehr Jesia’s marriage broke down and he lost so many people around him and went through all kinds of sadness and pain.
Rampal described this as the “darkest phase” of his life and said losing almost everything forced him to reconnect with himself. When asked about loneliness, he said it wasn’t about being physically alone but about being disconnected from his inner self.
As Rampal expressed in describing the turmoil, “My marriage was not working out and it’s sad because love is not constant. Everything in life is not constant. We are not constant, we are always changing and sometimes in that change we don’t grow or change well together.” His words were about the emotional complexity of relationships and the challenge of moving on with change.
The actor said the period was particularly painful because it coincided with so many personal losses. These compounded struggles forced him to confront his vulnerabilities and seek healing. Rampal said the journey was painful but ultimately transformative, allowing him to rediscover strength and resilience.
He also credited his partner Gabriella Demetriades with a strong anchor throughout this time. “I was very lucky because I got somebody like Gabriella into my life who I think was a very strong anchor and was also coming from a space of maybe a lot of darkness as well,” he said. Rampal said her presence provided stability and support, steering him through the storm.
Rampal’s candor about his struggles resonates with many who struggle to balance personal and professional lives. His thoughts underscore that we must be self‑connected, take on change, and that we need to have supportive relationships to get through it all.
Arjun Rampal’s candor is refreshing to see; even the most celebrated stars are going through a lot. So even those who are so successful come through the dark and come out in the light, and it's not only that he was rescued from the darkness that he’s brought out the light to the light, but that the light can be gained from the light by being there.
