Darshan Meets Wife Vijayalakshmi and Son After 10 Months in Jail on Wedding Anniversary

Kannada actor Darshan was finally able to meet his wife Vijayalakshmi Darshan and son Vinish face-to-face after almost 10 months behind bars over the Renuka Swamy murder case. The special meeting was held today, the occasion marking Darshan and Vijayalakshmi’s wedding anniversary.

The tear-jerking reunion, it was alleged, occurred inside the actor’s jail cell after prison authorities authorised a face-to-face family meeting.

Darshan is in jail after a Bail Cancellation

Darshan had first obtained bail in the Renuka Swamy murder case last year. But his bail had later been cancelled in August, and the actor was eventually returned to jail. He has been held in prison since, and is now purportedly not qualified to apply for bail again for the next year.

Darshan’s interactions with his family were strictly restricted during this time. Family visits mostly came under close police supervision, with chats taking place over barricades and prison security doors rather than face-to-face. And so the most recent meeting brought emotional weight to the actor and his family.

Special Permission Requested by Vijayalakshmi Vijayalakshmi went to Karnataka DGP Alok Kumar on her wedding anniversary, seeking permission to meet her husband face-to-face. Similarly, Darshan had allegedly appealed to the prison authorities for permission to meet his wife and son personally.

After examining the request, the officials granted “special permission” and permitted the family to spend about 30 minutes together. Unlike earlier monitored interactions, which took place from afar, this meeting was said to have taken place directly inside Darshan’s prison room, enabling the actor to reunite with his wife and son personally for months after the meeting.

The Reunion After Months of Emotion

The reunion was said to have been deeply emotional for the family. Darshan spent regular family time before his bail was withdrawn. But the jail restrictions that ensued separated him physically from the three of them for nearly ten months. The meeting was said to have given Darshan the chance to talk to his wife and embrace his son for the first time since being sent back to prison, police said.

The actor's supporters were on social media crying about the news, as many shared wishes for the anniversary and wished better days for the family. The cases of Renuka Swamy's murders in Karnataka continue today. The Renuka Swamy case has been the most questioned and debated in Karnataka in recent times.

Darshan’s detention and imprisonment had sparked a wave of interest nationwide and among supporters in the Kannada film industry. The case remains open to legal inquiry, and Darshan stays behind bars awaiting trial in court. Even though his life has been in the court of law for a month, his support is not waning, as is this Kannada film fraternity member.

Yet for Darshan and his family, May 19 became more than just a wedding anniversary; he and his family had been apart for months, and while the two remained emotionally apart, they had actually met for the first time in close personal connection during that time.
