The Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) gets formally set on fire again. On February 20, 2026, a shot of a leaked censor certificate published by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) began appearing on social media and fans were engulfed in a state of complete delirium. The certificate is given for a 30-second video teaser titled simply “Dilli.” For those who are not ready, Dilli is the name of the iconic ex-convict protagonist played by Karthi in the 2019 movie Kaithi.
Evidence: Why are Fans So Convinced?
Neither filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj nor the show’s official headquarters have made an official announcement, but the “Dilli” leak has three key clues in it toward the long-awaited Kaithi 2:
- The Title: It’s true Lokesh Kanagaraj did, pulling the name “Dilli” off to tease it like Vikram and Leo.
- The Production House: The certificate was applied for by Dream Warrior Pictures, the same banner that produced the original Kaithi.
- The Timing: The teaser got a ‘U’ certificate on 19 Feb 2026. This comes just weeks after speculation indicated that Lokesh is to likely pause the LCU in order to complete an independent project together with Allu Arjun (AA23).
"LCU is Back": Social Media Response
Within minutes of the leak, "Kaithi 2" and "LCU" became the rage globally on X (previously Twitter). This is seen by fans as the "revival" of the universe following mixed reception for Coolie and then a delay in upcoming LCU projects (such as the Rolex standalone and Vikram 2).
- “Dilli will return to complete the Biryani! LCU has indeed gotten back on track," wrote a fan.
- “Is this just a teaser for Kaithi 2 or the rumor-laden LCU short film, ‘Chapter Zero’? Either way, we are seated," another posted.
The Lokesh Roadmap - What Happens Now?
Kaithi 2 would be a huge crossover event, Lokesh Kanagaraj has said before. But if this teaser is indeed for the sequel, that actually indicates that the script, which Lokesh is said to have been working on while on break, is poised for production.
But perhaps the “Dilli” teaser is for “Chapter Zero - The Origin of LCU” a short film that Lokesh revealed in late 2024, designed to unite Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. And whether it’s a full-fledged sequel, or an origin story, about 10 minutes long, the return of Karthi as Dilli does everything to reignite the franchise’s massive hype.
