Director Jeethu Joseph, the brain of the franchise reigned once again with the new installment of Drishyam, promised to be the "final reckoning" for Georgekutty family.

The Poster: A Hidden Message?

This newly released poster showcases a close-up of a weathered, intense-looking Mohanlal (Georgekutty) looking into the camera. And, in a brilliant callback to the franchise’s theme, the background shows a blurred outline of a new construction site  suggesting that the game of “hiding the truth” has outgrown the police station.

The poster has the tagline: “The Truth Never Dies … It Just Waits.”

Official release date is confirmed

Mark your calendars! Mohanlal confirmed that Drishyam 3 will hit theaters worldwide on:

📅 August 17, 2026.

The release slots at Chingam 1 (Malayalam New Year), making an eventful opening at the Kerala box office. In contrast to Drishyam 2, which came direct-to-OTT during the pandemic, the third one is in for a big-screen presentation before broadcasting on streaming services.

What to Expect: The Plot Gets Thicker

Although the plot is being held more tightly than the secrets of Georgekutty, industry insiders have said Drishyam 3 is set to feature:

  • The Final Investigation: A cold case specialist from the central bureau revisiting the file that has tormented the Kerala Police for more than a decade.
  • Global Remake Synergy: The Malayalam and Hindi versions (with Ajay Devgn as their main focus) could appear to have a unified narrative bridge, although it is unclear whether this is the case that Jeethu Joseph has confirmed.
  • The Cast Coming Back: Meena, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil are all set to play their respective roles in the troubled family.

The "Drishyam" Legacy

Drishyam has become a cultural phenomenon since its debut in 2013, remade in a number of languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Chinese and even Korean. Within minutes of a poster drop, the third part’s announcement has set a global trend.
