The passing of legendary playback singer S. Janaki at 88 has devastated millions of Indian fans. After the media had been obsessed with her health condition and what was the reason for her death, Apollo BGS Hospital in Mysuru has now made public a statement on the cause of her death.

According to the hospital’s medical bulletin, the iconic singer was admitted to Apollo BGS Hospital today at 12:49 p.m. with a critical medical condition and was immediately evaluated by a team of specialist doctors. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to her very serious condition and for continued monitoring.

Hospital Statement Reveals Critical Health Complications

S. Janaki had been experiencing very serious pain in her leg, according to sources who were involved in her treatment. An injury that she had in her leg had turned into an infection. Medical information was also said to have worsened and needed to be treated.

Doctors at Apollo BGS Hospital immediately started emergency treatment after finding that the infection had become severe. A multidisciplinary team of specialists was assigned to oversee her care, and intensive medical management was initiated in an effort to stabilise her condition.

Janaki was kept under close observation in the ICU throughout the treatment process, they said. But despite all the efforts of the doctors in the medical field, Janaki's condition did not improve.

Cardiac Arrest During Treatment

S. Janaki was in treatment when she had a sudden cardiac arrest, a life-threatening health condition where the heart abruptly stops functioning. Doctors and critical care personnel immediately performed emergency resuscitation and tried everything they could to save her life, said the hospital.

Despite persistent medical efforts, the legendary singer could not be revived. Apollo BGS Hospital officially declared her dead at 7:30 PM on July 11.

Medical experts involved in her treatment indicated that the severe infection in her leg had probably contributed to significant health complications. Her infection's effect on her overall health, as well as her sudden cardiac arrest, was fatal, the hospital said.

She was awarded four National Film Awards, 33 State Film Awards, Kalaimamani Award, Rajyotsava Award, and Padma Bhushan.
