Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will not be starring with Rajinikanth in the movie Jailer 2, which ends months of speculation around a cameo.
Shah Rukh Khan was approached by the makers for a short but impactful role in the film, it is reported. It was only a five-day shooting schedule for Shah Rukh Khan, and it was going to be a big cameo, and was designed as a high-profile cameo in the film with other big stars.
But the actor has decided to walk away from it. The main reason for him is his big project, King, which is one of the biggest projects of his career.
Shah Rukh Khan was looking to keep his look and character in King exclusive, sources said. He didn’t want to be in any other film before it was released, especially since it’s also the big-screen debut of his daughter.
Another factor was the release date. Jailer 2 is set to be released earlier, but King is due in December 2026. Both sides agreed to kill the cameo idea. Despite walking away from the project, Shah Rukh Khan showed his love for Rajinikanth and even said that he would like to work with him in the future - in a cameo or a full-fledged role if everything worked out.
Interestingly, earlier reports had suggested SRK would be part of the film and even suggested a very strong multi-star sequence for the film. But the latest update does confirm that viewers will have to wait longer to see these two icons together on screen.
