The exhibition features the traditional craftsmanship, heritage and contribution of leather artisans and a range of leather products for visitors. The inauguration is ahead of a significant milestone for the corporation, which will complete 50 years of service on October 28, 2026.

The special stall attracted attention from visitors, who were attracted to leather products because of their utility, craftsmanship and demand in the market. The initiative aims to promote traditional leather-based industries and bring artisans and their products more attention.

Lidkar demonstrates traditional Leather Craftsmanship

The exhibition stall is to provide an overview of leather artisans’ rich history and traditional skills. With the corporation near its golden jubilee, the display is an opportunity to recognize the skills and contributions of craftspeople who have taken up leather jobs for generations.

Leather craftsmanship has been the bedrock of India’s traditional industries for centuries, providing employment for artisans and producing shoes, bags, belts, accessories, and other useful products.

Lidkar is bringing these products to the market and making the process and the work of manufacturing a reality in the exhibition. It also demonstrates the need for traditional knowledge and skills to be maintained and adapted to changing market characteristics.

As leather goods’ market growth increases in popularity, artisans and companies are able to get to know the market. The corporation can provide an exhibition platform to show its goods to the market, increase consumer awareness, and also get them into the market.

Visitors to the Mysuru exhibition grounds had a chance to examine the products and learn about the corporation’s role in establishing the leather industry.

Lidkar to celebrate 50 years on October 28

The Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Leather Industries Development Corporation will celebrate its 50th anniversary on October 28, 2026.

The golden jubilee marks five decades of the corporation in the leather industry and in its work with the development of leather-related livelihoods and traditional craftsmanship.

The special exhibition is part of the activities that are being carried out to promote this date. The corporation will also be running a special programme for the moment.

The anniversary provides a chance to reflect on the role of leather artisans, the challenges facing traditional industries and the need to create sustainable economic opportunities for craftspeople.

Proactively promoting traditional occupations and providing market access and mass consumer awareness to artisans to a much wider market can also help artisans reach the general public. These initiatives can also foster the retention of specific skills so that we can continue the traditional professions and encourage young people to pursue jobs in the traditional sectors.

Leather products attract consumer interest

As leather products are in demand for everything from everyday footwear and accessories to bags and other durable products, the company continues to produce everything about leather products. The products exhibited at the Mysuru exhibition got attention from visitors who wanted to purchase leather products.

Exhibitions and special sales outlets can be an important link between producers and customers. They allow consumers to check products directly, while companies like Lidkar have the opportunity to market their product range.

If traditional artisans are to succeed in public exhibitions, visibility in public exhibitions can make them feel confident and will bring in customers who are then able to repeat business. Increasing locally made products' quality and craftsmanship may also help traditional leather products perform better in a competitive market.

So the Mysuru exhibition is a product exhibition and also an opportunity to celebrate leather craftsmanship.

Ministers and officials present at the inauguration

Several ministers, corporation representatives and government officials attended the inauguration of the special Lidkar exhibition stall.

Minister Raghumurthy, Government Secretary Mohan Raj, Commissioner Nagaraju, Bhov i Development Corporation Chairman Ramappa, Adijambava Development Corporation Chairman Manjunath, Safai Karmachari Development Corporation Chairman Ashoka Sallappa and Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Development Corporation Chairperson Pallavi.

Dr. H. Nataraj, Managing Director of Lidkar, was also present along with other officials.

The participation of development corporations and the occasion is of great importance to the development of traditional industries and communities that are associated with them.

Focus on Traditional Industries and Artisan Development

The inauguration of the special exhibition stall reflects the move by Lidkar to make leather products more visible and to give visibility to the people involved in making them. Lidkar is trying to build the brand for product promotion while keeping its traditional culture as part of its history.

When the corporation celebrates its golden jubilee on October 28, it will hold an exhibition in Mysuru to celebrate leather artisans and keep the industry alive.

The project also highlights how public exhibitions connect artisans with the public, draw interest in locally made goods, and show the economic impact of traditional craftsmanship.

When the golden jubilee approaches, Lidkar’s special exhibition stall is an important occasion to showcase leather products, celebrate the skills of artisans, and highlight the corporation’s five-decade journey in the leather industry.
