The tragic and swift death of the young business owner has sent a chill down the heart of the local commercial district in the Bylakuppe region, which is one of the most prosperous and has a very cultural character and a very good trade centre.

The man who died was Prakash, a resident and entrepreneur in Bylakuppe. Prakash was originally from Rajasthan. He had moved south to Karnataka to earn a living and started a hardware business. The local shopkeepers are in shock over his death and his family and fellow merchants are in grief too.

How the incident took place

According to initial field observations from local authorities on 22 October 2026, Prakash was on his way to service work. He had been in a deep underground water storage sump situated near the place to correct an issue or investigate the structure.

Underground storage rooms like concrete water sumps are not a place where any cleaning and maintenance is performed at all. It was during this procedure when disaster struck. In the damp sump atmosphere Prakash accidentally came in contact with a live electrical current or a broken wire or poorly wired submersed device.

Because the water tank environment is incredibly conductive, the electrical shock was instantaneous and strong and Prakash was caught in the water tank and could not escape from it.

Emergency Response and Local Reactions

When Prakash didn't respond from inside the sump, bystanders and close friends did what they could and they quickly raised an alarm. Emergency rescue efforts were launched and his body was pulled out of the water tank.

He was rushed to the nearest medical centre where doctors declared him dead upon arrival because of serious cardiac arrest caused by high-voltage electrocution.

The tragic incident underlines a growing number of electrical accidents in the home and commercial sector in Mysuru and Karnataka, where minor mistakes in everyday pumping or lighting installations can lead to death. The police department in the city has registered an official case for the accident.

Forensic experts are still in the process of investigating and trying to locate the source of the leak - whether a short circuit of the water motor pump or of extension wires which weren’t secured was responsible for the fatal current.

Meanwhile arrangements are being made for the grieving family members to take Prakash's mortal body back to his native town in Rajasthan for the last rites.
