Anthropic has opened applications for its Claude Campus Ambassadors Programme and is now open for students and researchers to get involved in a campus project on artificial intelligence. This program is intended to train students to use AI concepts and organise events around Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude.
One of the most attractive aspects of the program is the financial support for selected campus ambassadors. The programme is funded with a cash stipend of $3,600 (Rs 3.39 lakh) according to the programme’s terms and conditions. It is for students and researchers interested in AI and others to learn and use it.
Applications for the programme opened on September 1 and the deadline is September 12. Anthropic said applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis and it is critical that interested candidates submit applications early. The programme will start this month and last until June 2027.
Who Can Apply For Anthropic’s Claude Campus Programme?
The programme is open to students and researchers from all over the world. Undergraduate students, graduate students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers are eligible to apply for it. But they must meet certain basic requirements.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have work authorisation in the country where they are studying. Anthropic has also indicated that the graduate and PhD tracks may be offered to a smaller selection of institutions as part of a pilot phase.
The programme has been divided into different tracks for different academic levels and interests of participants. Each track has its own responsibilities and opportunities, so ambassadors can focus on areas which are relevant to their campus communities.
Undergraduate Students: Claude Builder Club
Undergraduate students can apply to lead a Claude Builder Club on their campus. The track is dedicated to the students to experiment with AI and develop practical projects using Claude.
Campus ambassadors will be instructed to facilitate workshops, hackathons and demo nights. They may also be able to connect with club members to share resources such as API credits to help students learn about AI development and build projects.
Participants may also receive opportunities to attend Anthropic speakers. This can give students access to people in AI and the ways that AI technologies are being developed and applied.
Graduate Students: Claude Campus Conversations
Students aspiring to pursue STEM or humanities programmes will be able to participate through the Claude Campus Conversations track. Unlike undergraduate builder-focused programmes, this programme will concentrate more on AI's wider impact on education and society.
Ambassadors will organise conversations, events and other activities to encourage students to discuss the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence presents. They will also be able to present projects developed using Claude.
The track may also offer selected participants the opportunity to go to Anthropic’s office and meet other campus ambassadors and help create a wider community of students interested in AI.
PhD Students And Postdoctoral Researchers
PhD students and postdoctoral researchers who use AI in their research can apply for the Claude for Science track. The initiative is to build communities of AI-focused researchers in universities and research institutions.
Participants will organize workshops and activities for researchers on their campuses. They will also receive opportunities to take part in speaker sessions for Anthropic's mathematics and science teams and interact with scientists at the company directly.
This track will be particularly useful to researchers that are already incorporating AI into their academic work and would like to study the potential for novel AI technologies to be used to enhance research and collaborate.
What Will Claude Campus Ambassadors Get?
Besides the USD 3,600 stipend, selected ambassadors will be able to participate in AI workshops hosted by the Anthropic team. The programme also aims to develop knowledge on AI skills and practical skills and will help the participants in this area.
Another major benefit is networking. Ambassadors will have opportunities to connect with students, researchers and other participants from all over the world. Students may be able to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects and learn about different approaches to using AI.
Participants will also have the opportunity to give feedback on Claude’s features. Anthropic said feedback from campus ambassadors could inform future product development as well and that participants would get to contribute their views about where Claude is used in academic and campus environments.
