A property dealer was shot dead by unidentified attackers Wednesday morning outside a gym in Delhi’s Narela area, police said. The murder has raised the alarm over violent crime in that area and investigators are now searching for the attackers and trying to identify the motive of the attack, they said.
The victim has been identified as Pramod. A preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting took place at 7:15 a.m. when Pramod was outside a gym in Narela. The attackers arrived on a scooter and opened fire on him, the source said.
Pramod was hit multiple times in the attack. The assailants fled from the scene just after the shooting, and the victim was seriously injured. Police were notified and arrived at the site to investigate.
The shooting took place in the early morning hours when people were in the vicinity. Police are beginning to collect evidence from the scene and are going to check available CCTV footage to track the attackers’ movements.
Police Probe Possible Extortion Angle
The initial information indicates investigators are looking to see if the murder was motivated by an extortion dispute. At this point, the motive for the attack is not clear.
