Videos that showed the skyscraper as it got swallowed in a thick layer of clouds were quickly shared on social media and were witnessed by residents and weather viewers.

These visuals came to the fore during the monsoon season and the region experienced torrents of rainfall, strong gusty winds and a thick cloud of overcast skies that enveloped not only Noida but also Delhi, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram and many other areas of NCR.

As the huge rain clouds enveloped and covered the city, the top portion of the Supernova Spira Tower gradually fell into the fog and a surreal skyline that appeared more like mountainous landscapes than the bustling city that it really is was created.

Supernova Spira Tower is tall along Noida Expressway and one of the tallest residential skyscrapers in India. Its imposing height makes it a landmark from many points of view across Delhi-NCR. During the monsoon season at low altitude, it gets crowded as high-rise buildings fall away, leaving the sky blue but even in the middle of the night where the whole atmosphere is not in the sky and the top of the building is just visible.

The meteorologists say that such scenes are a result of moisture-laden monsoon air, falling temperatures, and heavy rainfall and the resulting clouds at such low altitudes contribute to clouds at very low altitudes. In active monsoon conditions, thick clouds and mist can obscure visibility, particularly around tall structures that poke through the lower cloud base. It’s a sight that is visually impressive and serves as an indication of how powerful nature is at work.

The viral videos circulated on social media portrayed the upper floors of the tower being sucked into the dark clouds that covered them. The rain moved through the city and the city’s landscape and the city itself as it fell into darkness, and only the lower parts of the building were visible and the rest of the building was totally engulfed by the thick cloud cover. The people on social media made comparisons with the iconic skyscrapers in top global cities like Dubai, Hong Kong, and New York, where such a thing occurs in bad weather.

Residents of Noida enjoyed the unusual skyline and they shared photos and videos of such an unusual skyline to the community, which many reported was very awe and a little bit of an eerie feeling. Some said the tower was “touching the clouds” and evoked dreams and fantasies; others compared it to beautiful scenes from science fiction movies. The images from that weather event attracted huge attention online, as thousands of likes, shares and comments flooded in on the night of the monsoon, and the mesmerizing beauty of the monsoon.

This dramatic weather event was accompanied by heavy rainfall in different parts of Delhi-NCR where waterlogging, traffic slowdowns, and delays in daily commuting were reported. Civic authorities quickly set up teams to clear drains and relieve traffic congestion in vulnerable areas in a bid to bring back normalcy, even as showers continued to occur throughout the day.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts continued to predict continued rains and thunderstorms in parts of Delhi-NCR for the next few days with the intensity of the rainfall expected to vary. People should be vigilant during heavy rain and avoid any unnecessary trips through water-logged roads and stay informed with updated news of new advisories as much as possible and follow official weather reports through the official weather service's website.

Experts in meteorology say that the clouds are visually appealing, but they also show that there is a lot of water in the atmosphere, and therefore, there is significant atmospheric moisture in the activity of monsoon systems. Low-hanging clouds and heavy rainfall reduce visibility for road traffic, aviation, and high-rise maintenance work, and therefore we should be concerned and watch out for it for the safety of our lives.

Urban planners also pointed out that the rise of skyscrapers in Indian cities has made weather more visible to the public. High-rise buildings frequently interact with low cloud layers during monsoon season, providing breathtaking scenes that are now documented with smartphones, drones, and high-resolution cameras.

For photographers, the Supernova Spira Tower in the shadow of dark monsoon clouds was a very rare and exciting opportunity to capture one of the city’s most memorable urban scenes in real time. Professional photographers and content creators flocked to strategic locations around Noida to record the unique weather event before the clouds gradually lifted and the moment passed.

The amazing images captured the attention of social media users and the general public, but officials warned people that heavy monsoon weather comes with risks, such as low visibility, lightning strikes, falling tree branches, and localized flooding. People should be indoors during thunderstorms, and stay away from areas that are open to the public or where flooded streets are located, because safety is always a priority in these conditions.

The cloud-covered Supernova Spira Tower has now become one of the most talked-about weather moments of the season, highlighting the dramatic beauty that accompanies India’s monsoon. With rains continuing to pour across the region, weather enthusiasts and curious observers alike will probably witness even more spectacular scenes, where nature seamlessly transforms familiar city skylines into breathtaking landscapes, reminding all of the awe-inspiring power of the elements.
