Some preliminary investigations have suggested that a short circuit could have driven the fire to take place but such investigations are a key aspect of the inquiry. Damage to the goods and infrastructure inside the store is being assessed, officials will be looking after it in detail.
It happened in the early morning hours when the store was closed, which likely prevented loss of life, they said. Emergency services came forward and evacuated and secured the area quickly—a quick response, they said.
Vishal Mega Mart is located near the busy Sector 76 Metro Station in Noida, close to the train station and a popular transit point. This scare did get a few in the local neighborhood and commuters scared off but the situation is now under control.
That incident only adds to concern over fire risk to commercial buildings, especially in densely populated urban areas. Law enforcement officials will review their compliance efforts and safety protocols.
And of course, there will be more information to come in the future as officials continue to work further.
