Deepu, affectionately known as Pradeep, was from Dammaiguda in Hyderabad. He came to the United States to pursue higher education in 2024. He recently obtained a master’s degree in computer science from Anderson University in South Carolina and was in search of a job.
People said Pradeep had been struggling to find a job for several months and that the job search had continued for around four months. The uncertainty increased his emotional and financial strain. Some people who were close to the family have said employment difficulties and financial problems were a cause of death, but that could not be definitively given as a cause without official evidence.
The tragedy has also highlighted the pressures that can accompany studying abroad. International students often make significant financial commitments to pursue degrees overseas, including tuition, accommodation, and living expenses.
