Jemima Goldsmith, a UK filmmaker, screenwriter and former wife of former Pakistan PM Imran Khan, has married Irish-Australian financier and film producer Cameron O’Reilly. The couple got married in a private ceremony last weekend, and they are going to have a new chapter in Goldsmith’s life more than 20 years after her divorce from Khan. Goldsmith’s family confirmed the wedding on social media posts.
Goldsmith, 52, and O'Reilly, 62, were dating for a little while before their marriage. They developed a relationship that was widely believed to be based on their professional connections in film and documentary industries. The couple had kept their relationship largely private— though they were seen together at public events as recently as Wimbledon this year. The couple became engaged in May.
Who is Cameron O’Reilly?
Cameron O’Reilly is an Irish-Australian businessman, financier, film producer and son of the late Irish businessman, media magnate and former international rugby player. Cameron graduated from the University of Oxford and worked in his family’s media business before moving into investment and private equity.
O'Reilly worked for Independent News & Media, the media group his father founded, for years. He later established his own private equity fund after graduation and got into investments and business. One of the most interesting deals involving him was a 2011 deal to sell smart meter maker Landis+Gyr to Japan’s Toshiba for nearly $2.3 billion.
His professional interests have extended into film and documentary production. This connection was said to be the reason he met Goldsmith. Both have a background in the entertainment and documentary business (and so he and Goldsmith have a mutual interest beyond their business and media background) in professional life and media.
Goldsmith has a career apart from her famous former marriage. She has been a writer, journalist, screenwriter and producer and worked on TV and film projects. She wrote the 2022 romantic comedy What’s Love Got to Do with It? Lily James and Emma Thompson also starred in it.
Goldsmith was married to Imran Khan from 1995 to her divorce in 2004. They have two sons, Sulaiman and Kasim. Despite her separation more than two decades ago, Goldsmith has continued to speak publicly about her former husband, especially during his imprisonment in Pakistan.
So the latest wedding takes place in the context of a very different story in Goldsmith’s life. Her marriage to O’Reilly brings together two people with strong connections to media, film, business and high-profile British and Irish social circles.
The couple will spend the rest of their time together in Goldsmith’s home in West London and O’Reilly’s residence in Switzerland, sources said. Their public profiles are well known, but they have kept a quite private relationship, and the wedding itself was taken as an intimate family affair, they said.
The marriage to Cameron O’Reilly also marks a new public association with one of Britain’s best-known media figures. For Goldsmith, it’s a new personal chapter following her highly publicised marriage to Imran Khan and then career in journalism and filmmaking.
Goldsmith’s family confirmed the wedding through her sister-in-law Jemima Jones, who shared a picture from the celebrations and stated it was a happy day.
