The Middle East is in high danger now that missiles have been launched at Saudi Arabia’s southern province of Jizan, just hours after coalition forces have bombed targets in Yemen.
The latest violence shows the state of security in the region is fragile and is raising new fears of a broader war.
According to regional reports, the missile attack was the result of coalition operations targeting Houthi military bases in Yemen. The strikes were supposedly to reduce the military power of the group following recent dangers and attacks with regard to the ongoing conflict. The missiles were launched toward Saudi territory and air defense systems were activated there.
Saudi authorities have yet to provide full information about casualties and the extent of any damage that has been done, or how much damage at the time of the attack. Emergency services and security personnel have been deployed to the affected areas and officials have begun to assess the situation.

For the Houthis, an Iran-backed armed group that controls the bulk of northern Yemen, the Houthis have repeatedly pledged to respond with attacks on military operations by the Saudi coalition. That missile strike could be part of that response and shows how volatile the conflict has been despite diplomatic efforts to try and bring down the fighting.
And security experts say repeated cross-border attacks will only escalate the tensions and complicate regional peace efforts. If there is an ongoing military escalation, more strikes will be likely in the coming days.

Why Jizan Is Frequently Targeted
Jizan, near Saudi Arabia's border with Yemen, has remained a strategic point throughout the war. Given its proximity to Yemen and key military and civilian infrastructure, it has been targeted by missile and drone attacks.
The region plays a major role in Saudi Arabia’s border security and it is also one of the most sensitive areas when fighting erupts between coalition forces and the Houthis.
